Your father - Milton Campbell Beck - was born in Salt Lake.

His father, Jack Campbell Beck, was born in SLC, but lived in Arizona in his later years.
Your father's father's family (Jack C. Beck's Ancestors) came from England and Scotland. The earliest known "Beck" was James Beck of Holywood, Dumfries, Scotland, born 1766. The Beck name is also found throughout Europe, notably in England, Germany and Denmark.

Other lines of your father's father's family go back to other places in England, though some were early (we're talking Mayflower) settlers in the Americas. Several family lines from this side can be traced back to the middle ages (1100s) in England, and some to the Normans of France. You had ancestors from Nottingham Shire (county) in England, including the Sherwoods (as in Sherwood Forest).

One of your ancestors from this side died in Jerusalem on the Crusades. There are bishops in the 580s and 420s, and from there you tap into Charlemagne (Charles the Great) and the French kings which go back to the dawn of time. Also attached are kings of Belgium, Prussia (Germany), Italy, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and a million places no longer in existence. Congratulations, you (like me) are also descended from Thor, Odin, and Freya of Norse Mythology. Funny note - one of your ancestresses is called the Countess of Chester (in England). There's more Scottish way back, and a touch of the Irish. (Happy St. Pattie's Day)

Most of your ancestors were "normal" people. Some were even from New Jersey (Dutch from the 1600s.) It is on this side you're related most closely to President Hinckley. You're also related to Reverend John Lathrop, founder of Barnstable, Massachusetts. There are also people from your father's father's mother's side who were originally from Maryland. You'll probably serve there. A little bit of Welsh blood on this side (Wales is part of Britain - known for male singers. Yeay! )

Your father's mother, Mary Woolf, was born near Elko, Nevada. She and her parents and family lived in Salt Lake City.

Your father's mother's side of the family (Mary Woolf's ancestors) has a little different story. Her family name comes from Germany. They settled in New York when they arrived in the U.S. Other parts of this family come from England as well. Some of these were knights of the middle ages. A little more Irish from this side (maybe that's where the green in your eyes comes from).

You have noblemen who signed the Magna Carta, weakening the power of the king and leading to democracy in England. There is connection on this side to the royal lines of Europe too. More Welsh and Scottish too. One Welsh line goes back to the year 314 A.D. One of your Saxon ancestors is named "Wig" born 355 A.D. You are related to "Old King Coel" who was born in the year 125 in Britain. There's a few people from Spain on this side as a Spanish princess with a long lineage married an English king. Your lineage on this side is like a braided "Who's Who of European Royalty." Even the commoners are cool. There are Skeltons and Coffins on that side. Ooh, scary!

This is also the side with the connection to Chester Pennsylvania. It's also the side on which we're most closely related.

Your mother - Deborah Diane Florence, is the oldest daughter and second child of your Lehi-dwelling grandparents.

Her father, Henry Samuel Florence Junior is half British and half Scandinavian.

This family came primarily from England, Denmark and Sweden. That makes you 1/16th Danish, and 1/16th Swedish (at least). The Florence line is as British (English) as they come. That line goes back to Thomas Flurrence of Norfolk, England in 1711. One of your ancestor's first name is Hillarius - literally. Hillarius Schneider. This English side doesn't stretch back as far as the lines on the Beck side.

The Danish side - the Hintze side - is interesting to me, mostly because I have a former student a year younger than you who was a Hintze. He stopped by so I could help him with HTML and I asked if he knew anything about his family history. You two are third cousins. His name is Michael Hintze, but he goes by Misha. Your Sweedish and Danish sides go back into the 1600s, with Joseph Anderson being the son of Anders Anderson, who is the son of Anders Eliasson and so on after the manner of Scandinavian naming.

Your mother's mother's name means "Dawn" and Aurora is also the name of Sleeping Beauty in the Disney version of the story.

Some of your mother's mother's family cannot be traced to their country of origin, Most of them were in the United States in the 1700s, but the record doesn't go back any further, at least not on her father's side. Most of the names sound English though. Her mothers side is the Cluff family which, before the whole Salem witch incident, goes back to England. Many lines stretch back to the 1500s. A couple lines reach back into the royalty on this side as well. You have lineage through the Pilgrim founders of the country too. There are a couple Scots, Irishmen, and Welshmen, with the main branch of Irish being the McBrides. This is their family crest to the right: Holy cats, batman! Is that a scarlet pimpernel?!

Ok, there is also a McBride crest that has fish on it, but this one was the more attractive of the two. But anyway, this side of the family also comes from the British Isles. There may have been a Frenchie thrown in for good measure, but that, in a nutshell, is where you're from.
The bad news is: you're white. I know you want something more interesting, but youse just be a white boy. You're whiter than I am, lineage-wise (I have one Native-American back in the 1600s). But you, you're whitebread (literally a decendant of Thomas Whitebread born about 1396.) Not even a single Puerto Rican in the mix.

The good news - in spite of this heritage, you have a great sense of rhythm and the fortunate ability to tan. Congratulations for getting the best genes possible. You also have a wonderful legacy. I'll share more individual stories as I find them though. You have many, and I'll hunt out a few more.
