Well I officially have a new website.  I don't really have any idea what it is I am doing yet, but I am throwing myself into it anyway.  I will still be doing football on this site until I have time to switch everything over, but for just regular entries I am gonna start using my new site www.aboutjoel.com. Stop by and tell me what you think as I start work on my new project.

You know tolerism has gone too far when people start to tolerate things that are against the law.  Just kidding some kids had taken the "not" off this sign near one of the Jr. highs I work at.  This is just one of many street signs I have seen defaced or that make absolutely no sense.  It makes me laugh to see something in print that you know is wrong.  Ordinarily it wouldn't have warranted mention, but with the number I have been seeing lately each time I see a poorly written or altered sign I can't help but laugh.  I got an E-mail from Amber Hansen (Stevens) reminding me that I had forgot to mention the little BBQ we had at Audra & Spencer's house on Saturday.  Audra sent out invitations last week to invite a bunch of us over to her house to eat and watch the BYU game.  Sam and I headed over (the invitation included a spot for a significant other... Sam proposed that I be his and I accepted) and were the only single people there.  It's different to see how much has changed in people's lives.  I always scoff at the idea that nything could change in 5 years that would warrant us having a 5 year reunion. (not that if a lot changed I would attend either, but still...) However, after seeing Amber, Paige, Jenny and Audra with husbands and kids (okay so Jenny didn't have kids, but Amber had two so if they share it might all even out) I felt very little in common with people I had grown up with.  I felt almost like I had more in common with their husbands that I had never spoke too... because at least they liked football. :) Luckily friendship isn't one of those things that is based entirely on commonality it's based on mutual concern and interest despite all other factors. As a result I had little trouble communicating with my friends, relating to them was another matter. As Sam and I went to leave someone (I don't recall who or how it came up) suggested that I become a teacher.  I have been giving those words some thought lately (largely in part to the joy I have received from my experience as a tutor so far.). Apathy and ignorance in America has made me debate moving somewhere, anywhere because I feel like I am helpless to change the ways things have become.  Until someone mentioned becoming a teacher I hadn't seen a solution to make a significant difference (because we all know voting is next to worthless despite the fact I do it every time...)  Anyway it's something to consider I guess.  After I graduate this December I am going to take a year off to get myself back together and then maybe, just maybe, look into getting a teaching certificate instead of going to graduate school.

Yesterday I received the "49ers post-game notes" e-mail (one of many I receive since I became a member of the fan-club a couple of years ago.) In this e-mail they had some pretty interesting trivia that I would like to share with everyone.
-Julian Peterson had a sack and an interception Sunday, but his performance alone wasn't enough to keep the 49ers ahead of the Browns who rallied for a comeback victory in San Francisco.
-The 49ers had won 36 consecutive games when they held their opponent to 17 points or less.
-Additionally, the 49ers failed to score a touchdown for the first time since November 29, 1999.
-Of 7 balls thrown Mike Rumph's way 5 were caught for a total of 75 yards and the other 2 he made contact drawing two penalties both resulting in first downs for the Browns.
-Mike Rumph sucks so bad as long as we allow him to play the only team we'll be capable of beating is the Bears.
Who knew they would be this straightforward about their own weakness.  Okay so they really didn't say the last two, but they're no less factual than the previous two statements. It shouldn't matter that I had to put it on here.  Mike Rumph you SUCK!

You've heard of ordering brides through the mail?  Well I have upped the anty a little bit...  I have ordered myself a friend through the mail.  Sure he doesn't talk much, but when I wrap him around my pillow and hug him real tight I can tell he loves me by that real special look in his eye.  His name is Che, and you're all welcome to stop by and meet him sometime where we can all plan guerilla warfare in latin american countries together (or at the very least talk trash on capitalism and a president who would deprive us of freedoms and rights protected under the constitution and bill of rights.  Patriot Act my arse... we're only so lucky there were no Texans among the original patriots and founding fathers or who knows where we would be now.)  This was more just an excuse to show off my Che banner and tell everyone I took the day off homework and everything else to spend time with my "friend" and listen to Rah-ku Bah-ludu (Rock Ballad) a compilation by Andy Drake.
September 11 - 13, 2003
Well as far as patriotism goes, my September 11 post is sub par. Drake and I took off down to Provo to say goodbye to our friend Suekyung.  She got accepted to a fashion design school in California and is leaving Utah for the wiles of West Hollywood.  It was choo-suk (Korean Thanksgiving) from wednesday through friday, so our dining at the Korean restaurant coincided with that quite nicely.  We got to eat some traditional choo-suk food called song-pyun.  Drake and I got the gross one with bean paste in it, but Sue seemed to enjoy hers, that had brown sugar and nuts inside.  We went and hung out with Kyle and Sam before we came back and helped Kyle order his computer. Friday after work and school Jessica and I met for lunch before I had to head off to the group home. The rest of my weekend disappeared into the group home.  I am glad everyone is having fun playing with the comments on my site.  I only wish I could play more, but such is life with no day off. I could use a day off from life I think.

First of all a happy birthday to Adam!  I hope you dream of large women or something befitting of a birthday man.  I turned in my graduation application today.  It felt so good to pay the money and be rid of that thing at last.  I took this picture when Sloan, Hang and I were walking back to my car on saturday.  The horse had a little baggy to catch the feces as it walked and I thought it was the most clever thing.  I named it the Ddongtoo in Korean (A combination of Ddong (crap) and Bongtoo (bag) and a pun that even Jared Peterson could be proud of.) If I could have a sack to catch and be able to get away with not wearing pants I would do it.  The idea of a diaper is just disgusting... all the smearing and rubbing, but a bag and the open air between my legs... oh yes.  If only I could have attained my childhood dream of becoming a workhorse, I could do it now with no fear of punishment or scorn.
