What is Chill?

In 1984, the now defunct Pacesetter Games published the horror genre game known as Chill.  After Pacesetter Games went belly-up, the license to create Chill was purchased by Mayfair Games.  In 1995, Mayfair decided to drop support of the game, and once again Chill became an orphaned game.

The mechanics of the game are irrelevant. They were neither spectacular in design, nor cumbersome in their detail.  The most important thing was that they worked for the game. Besides, the purpose of this site is to use the Chill backdrop as a setting for the Top Secret/S.I. game.

The strength of the Chill game came in its ability to unnerve the players, creating a real feeling of horror and dread.  Sure, creatures such as vampires that can snap you in two
backwards can be scary in other games.  But while  powers to do such things as causing it to rain toads, making messages to appear in blood on the walls, or creating sudden swarms of roaches may have an occasional use to inflict damage, they were mainly used to generate fear in the players.
