Chapter 2

BRRRIINNG!!! The three o'clock bell rang dismissing the kids from school. Shannon sighed with relief. School in Japan was not much different from school in the U.S. Except here, strange faces and unfamiliar things surrounded her. Of the girls she had met the day before only Usagi and Makoto had been in her classes. Usagi was just as friendly as she had been yesterday but Makoto wasn't as eager to make friends. Shannon sighed. Gathering her notebooks, she headed for the door. She turned down the hallway to go to her locker. After stopping by her locker she hurried out of the school to the small café she was meeting her sister at.

Usagi giggled happily. Mamoru was going to take her to the café downtown today. She and the girls had decided to take a day off from studying for the exams. Ponytails bouncing, she climbed the stairs to Mamoru's apartment.

"Hi Usako!" Mamoru greeted his girlfriend. "Ready to go to the café?"

"I sure am!" she giggled. "We can order a shake to split with two straws!" The pretty girl wiggled herself under Mamoru's arm and the two went on their way to the café.

"Here we are, Mamo-chan! Let's go sit in that booth over there!" Usagi led him over to a booth in the corner. "Hmm! Where's our waitress?" Standing up she yelled. "Waitress!"

Scouting the restaurant for some service, Usagi's eyes landed on a blonde girl sitting alone in a booth across the walkway from her own.

"Mamo-chan! That's the girl the girls and I met yesterday, the one I was telling you about on the way over here."

"Yes, Usagi. I see her. She looks a little lonely." Mamoru replied. "Maybe we should go say hi."

Usagi smiled widely at Mamoru. "My thoughts exactly!"

Usagi and Mamoru got up from the booth and slipped across the aisle.

Shannon sipped her pink soda quietly. *I wish Sinead would hurry up and get here! I feel silly sitting all by myself. Oh well, since she's late, she'll have to pick up the tab!* She smiled to herself.
Suddenly two shadows fell across the table. Shannon straightened and looked up quickly. It was Tsukino Usagi, and an older boy. Shannon stood up to greet them.

"Hello Usagi-chan! It's good to see you! Who's your friend?" Shannon said

"Hi Shannon-chan! This is my boyfriend, Chiba Mamoru." Usagi answered.

Mamoru did a slight bow. "Nice to meet you, Shannon-chan. Are you here alone?"

"Well, for now. My older sister, Sinead, is supposed to have met me here, but I guess she's late" said Shannon "Would you care to join me?"

"Of course!" Usagi cried enthusiastically. "Did you already order, Shannon-chan?"

"Yes, just a drink, for right now. Sinead will probably want to split something with me when she gets here."

Just then the waitress passed by the table.

"Excuse me, miss." Shannon called out to her. "I have company, would you be able to take their orders?"

"Yes, of course dear." The waitress replied in a nasal voice. "Be right with you." She set down the dirty dishes she was carrying and took Usagi and Mamoru's order before hurrying back to the kitchen.

"So, Shannon-chan," Mamoru said. "Usagi told me you just moved here."

"Yes." Shannon replied. "My family just moved here yesterday from the United States. My parents need to move around a lot because of their jobs. I was actually born in Ireland and lived there until I was 6 years old."

"Oh!" exclaimed Usagi. "That explains your accent!"

Shannon smiled. "Yep. Usagi-chan, thanks for your help today. I really would have been lost. I had no idea where any of my classrooms were."

"No sweat! It was my pleasure!" Usagi replied sweetly.

Shannon sipped her soda thoughtfully. She was just taking another sip when she felt someone's hand on her shoulder. She was so surprised she tried to gasp and swallow at the same time sending her into a fit of coughing. Turning around, she found a tall, red-haired girl with a baby on her hip looking down at her with an amused expression.

"Sinead!" Shannon gasped between coughs. "What in the world did you do that for?!"

The redhead set the baby in Shannon's lap laughing quietly. "Sorry Shannon, I didn't mean to kill you, just surprise you a little."

Shannon turned back around, her coughing subsiding. Her sour look faded when she saw Usagi and Mamoru trying unsuccessfully to hide their smiles. She began to laugh.

"Okay, I'll admit, Sinead you got me pretty good." She said, bouncing the baby boy on her knee. "Usagi-chan, I believe you already know my sister and brother, but Mamoru-san doesn't."

Usagi and Mamoru nodded.

"Well, Mamoru-san this is my older sister, Sinead." Looking down at the curly- haired baby, she continued. "And this is my youngest brother, Conner."

"Hello, Usagi-chan. Hello Mamoru-kun." Sinead said brightly.

Usagi rested her hand on Mamoru's arm defensively. "My boyfriend and I are glad to meet you."

Sinead slid into the booth beside her younger sister. "Whoops" She muttered under her breath to Shannon.

The waitress arrived at the table. "Here are your orders. Anything else I can get you?"

"Yes, I'd like a small dish of vanilla ice cream please." Sinead said politely.

The waitress took off for the kitchen. The conversation at the table continued on. Usagi was a bit surprised at how talkative Shannon was.

Usagi thought to herself as she watched Shannon telling a story. She was very expressive, gesturing with her hands and making all kinds of facial expressions.

"And then my mom came in," Shannon continued. "Boy, were we in trouble!" She laughed happily.

Suddenly Sinead jumped up. "Oh my gosh, Shannon! Why didn't you tell me it was after four! Our skating lesson with mom started ten minutes ago! She is going to kill us!" She grabbed Conner off of Shannon's lap and pushed her out of the booth. "I'll clean up the baby and pay, you go start the car and make sure our skates are in the trunk."

Shannon slowly stood up. "You know, I was thinking,"

"No!" Sinead cut her off sharply. "I know you don't like the lessons, but we're going."

"Aw, geez." Shannon grumbled. "Sorry Usagi-chan, Mamoru-san. We have to go. I hope to see you again soon. Goodbye!" She bowed slightly, grabbed Sinead's car keys and hurried out the door.

Sinead finished wiping the baby's face, and stood up. "It was very nice to meet you both. Sorry that we have to leave so abruptly. I hope to see you again sometime. Bye!" Sinead took off after her sister.

Usagi and Mamoru look at the girl hurrying to her car. "Bye . . ." They called in unison.

Mamoru looked down at Usagi and laughed. "Shannon-chan seemed a lot like you, Usagi."

Usagi laughed too. "I like her, she seems very nice. I think the other girls would like her too. I'll have to get them together."

Rei looked at her watch. "Late at usual." She sighed.

"She'll be here, Rei-chan." Makoto said looking up from her magazine.

Haruka and Michiru had contacted all of the senshi and planned a meeting at Rei's. Everyone was present, except for Usagi.

"I wish she would hurry up. We can't exactly start the meeting without her." Rei's voice was impatient.

Usagi burst into the room. "Hi guys, sorry I'm late!" She plopped down next to Minako. "Why do we need a senshi meeting? We just defeated the last bad guys. Nothing to worry about. Right?" She looked to Haruka.

"I'm afraid not, ordango atama." Haruka replied. "Michiru and I had a little run in with some suspicious characters last night. Seems there's a new enemy." She related all that had happened the night before.

"A new senshi?" Ami asked.

"Yes." Michiru looked thoughtful. "She called herself Sailor Electra."

"You're sure she wasn't bad, or something like that?" The question came from Makoto.

"No, the aura she gave off wasn't . . ." Michiru paused, "It was almost like she was full of light." She shook her aquamarine waves. "It was strange. There was a dog with her, it had a strange symbol on its head."

"Well, there will most likely be another attack soon." Rei chimed in. "You don't know what the youma was after?"

Haruka shook her head. "No, Sailor Electra was there before us, and she took care of the victim afterwards. She did say that the boy was drained, though."

"So, this new enemy might be after energy." Usagi said. "Rei's right, there probably will be another attack soon. If there is, we should all be there, agreed?"

Everyone nodded.

Rei turned to look suspiciously at Usagi. "Aren't you going to whine about how we just got done beating an enemy and now we have to start on a new one, and how you just want to be a normal girl?"

"I want to see this new sailor." She shrugged. "But I don't really want to start fighting again."

Rei sighed.

Usagi sat straight up in bed, knocking her black cat to the floor. Her peaceful dreams had been interrupted by a scream from outside. She looked at Luna, confused.

"What was that?" She mumbled, rubbing her eyes.

Luna untangled her self from the blankets on that had trapped her on the floor. "It must be an attack. Call the other sailors!"

Usagi jumped out of bed and grabbed her communicator from the nightstand. "Girls! There's an attack, come to the street by my house."

A few moments later, seven senshi stood beneath the tired glow of a street light.

"Look!" Sailor Jupiter cried. "There it is!" She pointed at the tall, deep purple youma standing behind some bushes.
Another scream pierced the night.

Sailor Moon charged across the street. "I am Sailor Moon! Champion of love and justice! When evil disturbs my sleep, I will right that wrong and return the night to peace!"

"I'm Sailor Mars, I have the power of fire!"

"Sailor Jupiter! Senshi of thunder!"

"Senshi of Love, Sailor Venus!"

"Senshi of Water, Sailor Mercury!"

"Protecting the ocean of the future, Sailor Neptune!"

"And I am Sailor Uranus, forces of earth and wind!"

The youma dropped the screaming girl and turned to face the senshi, unmoved by their speeches. "Salmar!" It hissed evilly.
Crackling purple energy raced toward the senshi. They all jumped neatly out of the way.

"Oh yeah? How 'bout I do a little crackling of my own?" Sailor Jupiter shouted. "Sparkling Wide Pressure!"

The Salmar hissed evilly and dodged the attack. "Is that all?" She hissed and again the purple stream raced at the senshi. As Sailor Venus and Sailor Mars dodged the attack it hit a park bench below them. The pair was pushed up as the bench exploded, then slammed into the ground, landing in a heap.

"Oooh," Sailor Mars groaned, the wind knocked out of her.

"Sailor Mars! Sailor Venus!" Sailor Moon cried moving towards her fallen friends. She stopped short, when she saw the Salmar moving towards her and the rest of the senshi.

The Salmar made a hissing-kind of laughter, advancing towards the rest of the soldiers.

"Uh-oh, not good." Sailor Jupiter mumbled. "Mercury, could you scan that thing and see if it has a weakness?"

"I'm already on it." The blue-haired senshi replied, staring intently at her visor. "There's nothing here. It's just some kind of monster. It seems to be made of a dark energy, and something else I can't even pick up. It's electrical in a way. Which is probably why it was able to dodge your attack so easily, Jupiter. The youma can sense when power attacks are coming. Sailor Moon, you're going to have to finish it off, if we can distract it."

"But how?" Neptune asked.

The Salmar stopped in her advance towards the Sailor Senshi. Her red eyes glowed brightly for a moment, then she hissed fiercely, and thrust her hand forward. Suddenly the street was enveloped in a dark mist, blocking out all light. The Salmar hissed again, this time in triumph. She knew she had the pesky humans who were interfering with her job right where she wanted them.

"Guys?" Sailor Moon's voice echoed eerily. "Where is everyone?"

"We're all here, I think. But this mist is so thick, I can't see!" Sailor Uranus walked forward tensely. "That creature is using this as a distraction. Be on guard." Her boots clicked loudly on the cement. She kept moving forward, alert for any sound or movement. Suddenly, she heard a low hiss behind her, she wheeled around. She couldn't see anything but the hissing continued.

Before Uranus could pinpoint the sound, a brilliant light exploded a few yards away from her. She turned away, down on one knee.
When her eyes readjusted to the light, she saw the same short soldier from the night before.

Sailor Electra tossed her curls. "Really Salmar, you should shut your eyes when you do your little mist thing. I could see those ugly red things from a mile away. What are they teaching you in evil school?" She jumped back as the Salmar kicked out one leg from her position on the ground. "Whoops, you missed." She singsonged. She hopped back a few more paces.
The senshi re-assembled under the street light. Mars and Venus supported each other.

"Is that Sailor Electra?" Sailor Moon asked Uranus a low tone.

Sailor Electra turned to the senshi. "Oh, so you've been talking about me, huh?" She winked at Sailor Neptune and Uranus, who stared back blankly. "Yes, I am Sailor Electra. Hello ladies." She did a little wave at the senshi. "But we can discuss this later. I think our little friend is a mite bit angry." She looked at the energy the Salmar was forming in her hand. "Yeah, now would be the time to get out of the way."
As soon as the words were out of the blonde's mouth, the Salmar released the energy at the senshi. Sailor Electra grabbed Sailor Venus's hand pulling her out of the way. Jupiter did the same with Mars.

"World Shaking!" The golden globe of energy shot from Uranus's hands just as the Salmar finished her own attack. Unable to get out of the way, Uranus's attack hit her, throwing her to the ground. "Now Sailor Moon!" Uranus cried.

Sailor Moon nodded. "Moon Healing Escalation!" The cleansing energy washed over the Salmar. She wailed once, then simply misted away.

Sailor Venus straightened as she felt the healing effects of Sailor Moon's attack. She looked questioningly at the senshi who stood smiling beside her. The yellow and green clad senshi stood at about the same height as Sailor Venus. There was a silver archery bow slung across her back. Her golden curls bounced around her mid-back as she moved into the streetlight congratulating the senshi.

"Great job, Sailors!"

"Sailor Electra?" Sailor Moon questioned, trying out the name. She looked at the senshi's eyes, she had seen that twinkling green gaze somewhere before.

"Yes, Princess Serenity. Or I suppose I should actually call you Sailor Moon. Either way, it's been a long time, you Highness." Sailor Electra replied. "Are you two okay?" She directed the question at Sailor Mars and Venus.

They nodded mutely. Though they knew that they would meet a new soldier that night, it was still a bit surprising to find another senshi.

"I'm sorry, I should have interfered sooner. I was checking on the girl, I think she ran away as she woke up." Electra said looking over her shoulder at the bushes. "Speaking of that, I should probably be on my way as well. We'll meet again." She waved and ran towards the bushes. She jumped over them, only to land with a crash. A high yipe rang out. "Sorry mutt!" She exclaimed. The rest of the senshi heard a low grumbling. "Yeah, well how I was supposed to know you were there. It really is a stupid place to take a nap, you know." Her head appeared over the bushes. She smiled sheepishly at the senshi. "So much for my exit." Then she laughed and ran into the shadows, a small dog trailing behind her.

"Well," Luna's said, emerging from behind the lamppost. "She certainly is something else."

"She seems awfully familiar." Sailor Jupiter twirled a piece of hair between her fingers.

Sailor Moon yawned. "Can we ponder this tomorrow? It is kinda late you know." The senshi smiled at each other.

"Yes, ordango atama." Sailor Uranus said.

The girls de-transformed and headed in the directions of their houses, eager for sleep after their night of fighting. *
