A Day at the Pool
By Chiba Hikari
"Oh, the water is cold!" Shannon exclaimed as she dipped her toes into the crystal clear water of the pool.
"That's so when we get hot, we can jump in and get refreshed." Fierin replied with a smile.
"I'm already hot. These Tokyo summers are brutal." Adara stated.
"Well here. Let me help you in!" Shannon said as she pushed Adara into the pool. Adara wasn't ready and fell into the pool trying to drag Shannon with her. Shannon, however, was smart enough to jump back.
"Why did you do that?" Fierin asked.
"Cuz she was complaining that she was hot." Shannon replied. Adara surfaced and she did not look happy.
"Shannon! You're gonna pay for that!" Adara yelled as she pulled herself out of the pool.
You better run." Fierin suggested. Shannon had already took off towards the diving board, Adara closing on her fast. Shannon jumped on the diving board and dove into the pool before Adara could push her in.
"Haha, you didn't get me!" Shannon taunted as she treaded the water.
"Oh yeah." Adara said matter-of-factly, "CANNONBALL!" Adara shouted as she plunged into the pool creating huge waves.
"Geez, were you trying to drown me?" Shannon asked sarcastically.
"No, this is drowning you." Adara said as she pushed Shannon's head down in the water. "Are you coming in?" Adara asked Fierin as she let Shannon up.
"I suppose so." Fierin told her as she mounted the diving board. She dove into the pool, arcing gracefully as she hit the water with very little splash. They all swam for about an hour. They were having so much fun they lost track of time.
"I'm hungry." Shannon complained.
"You're always hungry." Fierin replied.
"Am not! Anyway, why don't we get some watermelon. I can remember having watermelon every summer before my family moved here.
"Watermelon does sound good." Adara added. So they all got out of the pool and ate some watermelon. "Mmm, this is good."
"I'll say." Shannon piped up as she spit out a seed.
"That was gross and totally un-ladylike." Feirin reprimanded.
"Oh lighten up, will you!" Shannon sighed, "I'd like to enjoy my short summer break from school."
"Does anyone know what time it is?" Adara asked.
"Five o'clock." Fierin said as she looked at the watch on her bag.
"Crap! I'm late for my ice skating lesson! My ma is going to kill me!" Shannon shouted as she grab her stuff and ran out of the pool area.
"Must she always over react?" Fierin asked.
"No but her mother really is going to kill her for being late!" Adara stated with a giggle.
