About Me and the Series...
One night I had a dream. I dreamt of a heroine. This heroine was wearing a subtle costume and was in animated form. This animated heroine was Aaliyah Haughton. Then I thought, why not? Why not create this idea? So, loosely based on the singers life "Baby Girl" (tenative title) is the story of a non-famous young woman who attends college at our present time.  She toils with her goal of getting into the medical field and discovering her personal history. Through her knowledge of science and her determination to uncover her past, she creates incredible inventions and has amazing adventures.

I wanted a strong African American rooted female character to star in an animated series. I had come up with other characters in stories similar to this, but they just did not have the essence I  needed. After Aaliyah's death I saw the impact she had on our youth and that must have hit a nerve. I had a dream of watching television and seeing Aaliyah's animated series on screen. In my life I have been blessed with the talent of art and thought if anyone
Aaliyah the Animation 2
could bring this dream to reality...well I thought to step up to the plate.

Now I don't expect this to be on television any time soon. This is not a treatment. It is simiply an idea that hit me and some sketches to go along with it. I wanted to hear some world wide opinions before I really get into it. So far a lot have been positive. By no means do I want to disrepect her or her family, so I am hoping for as many honest responses as possible.

Am I an Aaliyah fan? Well it was funny, just before her death I started to get into her. I had just seen her final intervew on 106 & Park and then a month or so later she was gone. I was like , "Whoa." Up until then I had only herard about her in passing. I still have not seen "Romeo Must Die" or "Queen of the Damned". I feel it is crucial to see these films before I go on. (I'll update this section when I get the opportunity to see them) I don't know if I could be more than just an admirer at this point. Well, that's my story. If you would like to contact me or give me some more ideas, you can e-mail me at

Peace.
