Harry Potter

Harry Potter was born into a wizarding family. All was happy until Dark spread over the land and Lord Voldermort ruled. He came to the Potter's house one night and killed his parents, but when he tried to kill Harry, he lost all of his powers and ended up nothing but a head inside a turban of a secretly evil proffessor at Hogwarts. That made Harry one of the most famous people anywhere for all people who lived in the other realm. He was orphaned and had to live with his aunt and uncle, the Dursleys. They were awful to him and kept him in a tiny closet under the stairs. He lived this way for 10 years until he got A LOT of letters from Hogwarts saying that he was invited to attend school there. After much struggling, Hagrid, the gamekeeper, took him there, where he spent his term as a first year.
After battling Voldermort again, and prevailing, school ended and he went back to the Dursley's. On the second year, a mysterious monster was petrifying student, and it was commanded by, what turns out to be, Lord Voldermort. Harry Batlles Voldermort again and wins. In the 3rd book, Harry saves a wrongfully accused Sirious Black from the terrible Dementors. He is a hero yet agian, and that is where the story ends thus far ( Unless you've already read Book 4, but most people haven't, so I won't put anything yet on it.) Harry is a brave student, and he is destined for greatness.

Ron Weasley

Ron Weasley is a shy boy. He is insecure about his lack of money and has never done much of anything spectacular concerning magic. He has, however, accompanied Harry on all of his journeys, sort of like his sidekick. He is very nice, but kind of has a short temper..... especially with Draco Malfoy, who makes fun of him.
Ron has firey red hair, as do all of the Weasleys, and, along with Harry, has a sort of a nack at breaking school rules. But, most of all, Ron is Harry's best friend.

Hermione Granger

Hermione is part of the famous trio of the book- Harry, Ron, and her. Hermione is the main brains of the gorup. Sometimes she takes this to an extreme with her work. Harry and Ron think she overdoes it, but her grades reflect her hard work, and she is most likely the smartest student in her year.
Hermione has always helped a lot in the 3 friends causes throughout the book. She got the pass from Gilderoy Lockhart (whom she has a crush on), figured out what the Chamber monster was, and helped tremendously in their reseearch on Nicholas Flamel and the eventual resting place of the Philosophere's, or Sorcerer's, Stone.
If it wasn't for Hermione, Harry's adventures would have never been possible.

Fred and George Weasley

Fred and George are the next youngest aside from Ron in the Weasley family. They are constant troublemakers and pranksters at Hogwarts. They expierement with weird things and it's quite ordinary to hear an explosion coming from their rooms. They are on Harry's Quidditch team, and they keep the bludger's from hitting their teammates.
Fred and George have, and hopefully will be in the coming parts of the series, been a comical relief throughout the story.

Neville Longbottom

Neville is a fat, slightly dumb little boy. He is, however, very sensitive and can have his feelings hurt very easily. Hermione once had to freeze him motionless so that she, Harry, and Ron, could go find the Philosopher's, or Sorcerer's, Stone.
He was more part of the book in the First one than the second. He has, though, always been a loyal friend to the trio of the book.

Seamus Finnigan

Seamus is one of the male 2nd years in the Gryffindor house. He is always nice to Harry, who he was in front of during the Sorting Hat ceremony. We know he is pale and has sandy hair from Harry's description of him.
Like Neville, Seamus had a somewhat larger role in the first Book. He, too, has been a nice part of Harry's world

Percy Weasley

Percy Weasley is a prefect and kind of stuck on himself. You are teased (at least I was) by the author in the second book. Throughout it, there is the small suggestion that Percy may be the one directing the Chamber monster. But,as it turns out, he was just acting strangely because he had a girlfriend.

Ginny Weasley

Ginny Weasley has a big crush on Harry. Any time she sees him she gets nervous and does something emberrassing. It is Ginny who ends up being part of the chamber disaster: she is taken over by Lord Voldermort and does awful things she doesn't evn know she did. She is a first year. Lord Voldermort takes the life out of her slowly, and as she is dying she is rescued by Harry. Ginny does not get in trouble for her actions, since she didn't know she was committing them.

The Gryffindor Qudditch team

The Qudditch team is always nice and supportive of Harry. They know how good he is at Quidditch. Harry led them to victory both in the first and second book. It consists of the captain, Oliver Wood, Fred and George Weasley, Katie Bell, Angelina Johnson, and Harry. Lee Jordan, a friend of the Weasley twins, commentates each game.
They have had some unfortunate circumstances with injuries and such, but keep going strong.
Led by Wood, an older Hogwarts student, they have proven themselves to be one of, if not THE, best Quidditch team at Hogwarts.

Rubeus Hagrid

Hagrid is the giant gamekeeper at Hogwarts. He has become very good friends with Harry, Ron, and Hermione- especially with Harry. Hagrid is the one who came to the muggle world to rescue Harry from the Dursleys, who wouldn't let him read the huge abundance of letters he was recieving inviting him to go to Hogwarts.Ever since, Hagrid has been helpful to the friends, and sometimes the opposite, although Hagrid would never deliberately do anything to get them in trouble. He has a soft spot for having monsters as pets, including dragons and huge spiders(The dragon shown below).50 years ago, when the chamber monster was killing people, Hogwarts banished Hagrid from school because they thought it was his pet huge spider that was doing it (it wasn't.) When it happended again, he was sent to the Prison of Azkaban, but released eventually. He now lives in a little hut on the grounds peaceful and content(usually.)

Dobby

Dobby is a small, ugly little creature with huge eyes that look like headlights- he is called a house elf. He came to Harry and told him not to go back to Hogwarts his second year, because he knew something bad would happen and he admired him so much he didn't want anything to happen to him. He knew this because he was the slave of the Malfoy's, and knew there was a scheme because he heard them talk about it.He stops Harry's mail, block his entrance to the Hogwarts Express, and even sets a bludger on him to keep him from getting to Hogwarts.
When Harry saves the day,he tricks Mr. Malfoy into setting Dobby free (if you give your house elf slave an article of clothing, that means you set them free.), and Dobby (hopefully) will live happily ever after.

Draco Malfoy

Draco Malfoy is Harry's arch enemy. They despise each other. Draco is uppity and snotty and resents Harry's popularity. He is rich and got on the Quidditch Slytherin team just because his Dad bought them all expensive broomsticks. Harry has gotten into trouble more than once with Draco-related incidents.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione thought he was the Heir of Slytherin that was commanding the Chamber monster to kill. They took a Polyjuice potion and it transformed them into Crabbe and Goyle, Draco's thugs who follow him around simply as a threat to anyone who contests Draco. They are not too bright.
As it turned out, Draco had nothing to do with the whole mess. They find this out by talking to Draco as Crabbe and Goyle (they turned into them with the potion), knowing that he would tell them the truth. His Dad had MUCH to do with it, but Draco knew nothing of it, and neither did Crabbe or Goyle.

Professor Snape

Professor Snape is awful to Harry and his friends. He doesn't like Harry because Harry's Dad was his arch enemy at Hogwarts, much like Harry and Draco are today. However, since Harry's Dad saved Snape's life, Snape felt in the man's debt and decided he should try to save Harry's life from Lord Voldemort- who was trying to steal the Philosopher's, or Sorcerer's, Stone.
The ironic thing is, Harry and his friends thought Snape was the one trying to steal it. His spells they saw him casting were actually counterspells to save Harry's life.
Regardless of this, Snape still despises Harry, Ron, and Hermione, as they do him.He loves to see them get in trouble, and would go to great lenghts to get them into it.

Lord Voldemort

Lord Voldemort grew up as Tom Riddle. He went to Hogwarts and had great potential. Little did any one know he was growing up to be the greatest Dark wizard of all time. Dark spread over the magical realm and Lord Voldermort took over, with awful consequenses. He was so feared even now no one can even speak his name.
One night, Lord Voldemort killed Harry's parents, and tried to kill Harry. But when he did, he was killed and Harry was okay. Everyone was overjoyed. He has since, and will for long times to come, tried to regain power. Since he is not fully human, can never die.

Lucius Malfoy

Lucius Malfoy was part of Lord Voldemort's inner circle when he was in power. He is Draco's Father. Once Voldermort was gone, he said he was kind of "hypnotized" and the real him was not part of that. Most think otherwise, and they're right.
He set up an elaborate scheme in Harry's second year to have all muggle borns (and Harry and Ginny) killed. It didn't work, and Lucius lost his job, and his house elf, Dobby.

Professor Quirrell

Professor Quirrell was kind of a joke when he was a teacher at Hogwarts. Everyone bought his pitiful, studdering act. There were rumors he'd been through a lot with monsters and vampires, and that's why he was so scared and studdered. They thought the turban he wore held garlic in it so he could be safe from vampires at all times. It was all just an act so they would never suspect him.
He was a servant of Voldemort, and inside his turban, on the back of his head, was the remains of Lord Voldemort. His face was in the back of Quirrell's head! When Harry met up with him and battled him, Quirrell was burned because the touch of something as good as Harry was that hurtful to him. When Dumbledor got there just as Harry was getting badly hurt, he saved Harry and Quirrell was dead.

Peter Pettigrew a.k.a. Wormtail

Peter Pettigrew had a secret. Thought by all to be a hero that fell under Sirius Black, he was really the villain. He hid himself by becoming a rat, that, coincidentally, became the pet of Ron Weasley, Harry's best friend. Peter was forced to reveal himself, and could have been killed, but was spared. He then escaped and is rumored to meet back up with the Dark Lord.
