About DynaHunk (FAQs)
Who Is DynaHunk?
There is no DynaHunk, really. It's just a faceless character I made up as a kind of counterpart to DynaGirl (I'm assuming you're all familiar with Sid and Marty Krofft's ElectraWoman and DynaGirl, here). Don't ask me what DynaHunk looks like, what he wears, etc. Maybe one day he'll make an appearance, but for now he's just a name.
Why Such a Stupid Name?
All superheroes are immodest, and so what could be sillier than DynaHunk? Yes, I know that some of you are greatly embarrassed by having to make out checks and envelopes c/o of this moniker, just as I am embarrassed whenever some nosy bank teller asks me what it means. If you like, you can smudge your handwriting just a bit to obliterate the "Hunk" portion, or maybe you'd rather abbreviate: DH Productions, for example. As long as your check cashes, I'll have no qualms.
Do You Accept Original Scripts, Materials?
Please don't send me anything! I don't mind simple suggestions in the form of common email, but I haven't even begun to read all of the material sent my way (unsolicited!) and I don't plan to any time soon. Without going too far into my private life, let's just say that I've plenty to read as it is.
Are You Gay/Single/Willing to "Cyber"?
Not gay, but I don't begrudge gay men checking me out (especially when their checks cash). A compliment is a compliment. I'm also arrogant enough to see what you queer folk mean when you throw a pass my way. Nor am I willing to cyber. Just as I've got plenty on my reading table, I'm never too hard up for a date on Saturday night. I am single, though, and planning to stay that way for a long, long time.
Can I Be in One of Your Movies?
I wouldn't rule it out, but bear in mind that I live in the Midwest and have a talent pool of locals to choose from. My budgets don't permit to seek elsewhere. Also, do you have a head shot at the very least? I've a long list of people eager to step in front of my camera, but I don't know what any of them look like. And not to sound too shallow, but physical attractiveness comes with the superhero costume. It's all part of that heroic immodesty. It takes quite a bit of self-confidence and personability to walk around in tights, I can tell you.
What Do You Really Look Like?
I believe Katelyn Downey, star of the ElectroBabe and Tatman franchises, has a few photos of yours truly posted on her site.
Do You Have Any Nude Photos of Yourself?
No. But thank you for your interest.
Would You Be Willing to Model for Me?
No. I've been a piece of meat for too long. But thanks for the offer.
Just How Risque Is Your Work?
Not very. Much of it could be shown on local television without edits. But if you think the sexual preoccupations of superheroes and their adversaries are hot stuff, you may indeed be, er, aroused by my work. You will note that I don't ask for a "Certification of Adulthood" statement from my clientele. This is because I have every confidence that my work would not receive an adult rating if presented to a governing board.
How Much Does One of Your Movies Cost to Make?
Let's just say that I can make a decent feature-length movie for less than $5,000 and leave it at that. By keeping my budgets minuscule, I am able to remain a true independent, without fear of compromising my material to suit some uncomprehending "suit." People often ask me how I manage to crank out one or two features a year without outside financing, and I can only wonder how I could not manage to do so. Every third Jamaican basement cranks out world-class reggae. Given the ready accessibility of cheap digital video gear, why don't more people do what I do?
How Much Time Does It Take to Make One of Your Movies?
I generally spend a week in pre-production (casting, writing the script, making out the schedule, storyboarding, assembling costumes), a couple of days in production (getting tale on tape), and a few weeks to edit, score, and master the finished movie. After I've made the leap to the digital domain, I'll greatly reduce the total time spent on any given project, thereby enabling me to keep pace with my ever-demanding and expanding audience.
Could You Give Me Any Advice on How to Make My Own Movie?
Learn to do everything yourself, and outsource only what you can't do. If you can become a one-man production team, you will eliminate having to explain and coordinate things with other people, and in the process, you'll expedite your vision. I've heard that filmmaking is the one true collaborative creative process, and to that I can say only, "Who says so?"
