"Sailor Saturn..." a voice whispered in Hotaru's head as she lay in her hospital bed.

    "Who's there..." Hotaru said in her mind, "How do you know who I am?!"

    "Oh, I know many things, Sailor Saturn. MANY things. I know of the Silver Millennium. Of Princess Serenity and Prince Endymion. I know of the future that awaits them as King and Queen of Crystal Tokyo. I know of Chibi-Usa -- the child that awaits them in this future. The child who has come back in time to fight alongside her mother's younger self.... I know---"

    "You know too much..." Hotaru interrupted quietly.

    "Saturn... your future Queen possesses the Silver Crystal and I have come here to PREVENT her from BECOMING future Queen! Crystal Tokyo may be ruled by Serenity, and Endymion now... but it will not be for long! It will be ruled by ME!  And if I have to destroy the present to do so, then I will!!"

    "Sailor Pluto will not allow that..." Hotaru began.

    "I do not CARE what Sailor Pluto will allow!" The voice snapped angrily. "The Guardian of Time will will not upset my plans! I came here to get something, and with it, I shall do as I please!"

    "Here?? Specifically Manhattan? Is there a reason for that?" Hotaru asked.

    The voice chuckled, "You are trying to find out my plan! Do you think I would tell you? All you need to know is that the Gargoyle - Goliath - has something which I wish to possess. Something I lost a long time ago. But... I have said too much. Good bye, Saturn. Tell your friends I have dropped by..."

    With that, the voice disappeared

    Goliath, Brooklyn, and the other Gargoyles stood on the roof and watched Hotaru through the skylight. She was only allowed two visitors at a time due to hospital regulations. Chibi-Usa had wasted no time being the first visitor.

    "Hotaru-Chan?" Chibi-Usa said to her unconscious friend. Setsuna was standing beside her. "Hotaru-chan, please be all right," Chibi-Usa pleaded. She put a hand on Hotaru's face, which was covered with bandages to heal her burns.

    "We will need you in the upcoming battle, Hotaru... and we promise to keep you safe until then.." Setsuna added.

    Hotaru's eyes fluttered open, "She knows..." Hotaru began. "She knows everything...!"

    "Hotaru-chan!!" Chibi-Usa said, "You're ok!!"

    "Little Princess..." Hotaru started as she turned her head towards Chibi-Usa, "You must be . careful.  She wants to alter the future. She wants to rule Crystal Tokyo..." Her voice was no more then a whisper, "She needs something the Gargoyles have.  She..." Hotaru's voice faded out as she once again fell unconscious.

    Chibi-Usa huddled close to Setsuna, "Don't worry, small lady," Setsuna said, using the nickname she had given Chibi-Usa. "We will not let that happen... not if I can help it! Time will not... MUST not be tampered with!"

    The gargoyles were watching the scene before them, "Hmm.. Setsuna sounds pretty determined.. it's almost as if guarding time is HER job!" Lexington said.
 
 

    Setsuna was in her hotel room, going over what Hotaru had said earlier that evening, "The Dark Queen knows everything..." Setsuna thought to herself. "That's what Hotaru said.." She looked at herself in the mirror. "She knows I will not allow her to interfere with the time line. She knows that she cannot pass through the Gates of Time as long as I am protecting it... so why does she think she can...?" Then a realization came to her, "Hotaru said she needed something the gargoyles had! Could she be looking for The Phoenix Gate? Does she think it is still in Goliath's possession?!" Setsuna looked at the small, sleeping form on the other bed. She quickly went to it and shook it awake, "Small lady .. wake up. I think I know why our enemy is here,"

    Chibi-Usa looked up groggily, "You do?!?" The little girl asked.

    Setsuna nodded as she went to the phone on the night table and called up the next room. A groggy voice answered angrily, "It's 12 am! You'd better have a good reason for calling this room!!"

    "Calm down, Haruka..." a quiet voice said in the background.

    "It's Setsuna," Setsuna replied, "We need to have a meeting in my hotel room. I have figured out why our enemy is here!"

    The voice became calmer, "We will be there shortly..."

    Within a few minutes, calls were made and  everyone had gathered in Setsuna's room -- still in their pajamas and robes.

    "What's this PIGEON GATE thing?" Usagi asked.

    "It's PHOENIX GATE, you dummy!" Rei replied.

    "Oh.. well.. excuuuuuuse me for making a mistake!!!" Usagi shouted to her.

    "It wouldn't be the first time!" Rei shouted back.

    Usagi opened her mouth to reply, but Mamoru quickly covered it with his hand. She looked up at him, "Mramo-ran.." she whined, "ret gro..."

    "No, Usako.. I won't let go. I want to hear what Setsuna has to say... and we know once you open your mouth it takes a while to close it.." Mamoru replied.

    "Hey... rour supposed to wove me!!" Usagi mumbled beneath his hand.

    "I do love you ... but ... hush!" Mamoru answered. Usagi just stood there, arms crossed, fuming. Mamoru's hand was still over her mouth. "Go on, Setsuna.." he said.

    Setsuna nodded, "Well, the Phoenix Gate is a powerful time travel device," Setsuna
explained, "And the Dark Queen believes the Gargoyles have it."

    "And... do they?" Rei asked.

    "No.. but..." Setsuna furrowed her brow, "This Dark Queen is familiar to me. I was unsure at first... but when Hotaru told us she wanted to tamper with the future, a memory came to me. A memory of a woman named Araniwa. A woman I have encountered before...."

        "So... what does this Dark Queen want?" Lexington asked as the gargoyles gathered on the roof of Wyvern Castle.

    "I imagine the Sailor Soldiers would know better then us..." Angela said. "Hotaru was saying something something about Crystal Tokyo... I've never heard of that place,"

    "No, neither have I," Goliath started. "This is something that perhaps only the Sailor Soldiers know about.. and it is not our business. I am very sure it is a long story,"

    "Well.. how are we supposed to help them if they won't tell us anything?" Brooklyn said.

    "Brook... when you save people's lives on the street, do you ask them their life stories?" Elisa asked.

    "Well.. no..." Brooklyn began.

    "Then don't pry. They need our help... that's enough." She said.

    "Well.. Mako told me the hotel they're staying at," Brooklyn began, "I'm going to go ask her what's going on!" And with that, he jumped off the roof and glided away. The others grudgingly followed.

    When the Gargoyles arrived at the hotel, a quick look through its windows revealed where the Sailor Soldiers were. They landed on the ledge and Brooklyn knocked lightly on Setsuna's window. The soldiers looked at the window, and Chibi-Usa quickly opened it.

    "It's a good thing you're here," Setsuna began, "We need to get moving..." Before the Gargoyles could say anything, everyone transformed.. even Mamoru. "Come here," Sailor Pluto beckoned to the gargoyles, "We'll have to teleport,"

    "Uh.. teleport?" Lexington asked. The Soldiers quickly formed a circle.

    "Get in the middle," Sailor Neptune said. The Gargoyles did so.

    "SAILOR..." Artemis shouted.

    "TELEPORT!!" Luna finished.

    Suddenly a bright light appeared around everyone, including the Gargoyles, and they disappeared.

    "I hope they can stop her!" Artemis said. Luna nodded.

    When the light faded, the Gargoyles found themselves in a large, empty field with the Soldiers. "Where are we?" Hudson asked as he looked around.

    "Some place deserted," Uranus explained, "Where innocent by-standers can't get hurt!"

    Pluto walked away from the others, and they began to follow.. but she quickly raised a hand for them to stop. She walked a bit more, and opened her other hand. There was something in it. She held it up to the sky, "I have what you are looking for! Come get it!" She shouted.

    Goliath saw what she was holding, and was shocked. "The Phoenix Gate?!!! But... how... how did she get it?!"

    Sailor Pluto heard Goliath's question, and turned to him. "I am the Guardian of Time," she began, "This.." she held up her key-staff, "is the key to the time gate which I guard. The gate that allows for time travel!"

    "Guardian of TIME??!" Lexington exclaimed.

    Sailor Pluto nodded. "It is my duty to prevent interference in the time line..." She walked up to Goliath. "Although the Phoenix Gate is not as powerful as the gate of time, it is still dangerous and could be used to tamper with the space/time continuum,"

    "But... I sent the Phoenix Gate through its own portal!" Goliath said.

    Pluto smiled, "Anything sent through time must come to me first..." she explained. "When I saw the Phoenix Gate come through it's portal, I took it, and have kept it safe since then," she explained.

    "I traveled through time twice with the Phoenix Gate... I have never seen you!"

    "You are not supposed to see me.. not unless I choose to be seen," She explained. "Your time travel posed no threat to the time stream, and therefore I allowed it. You believe 'time is immutable', Goliath. That is not entirely true, it is just that I do not allow it to be interfered with..."

    "Yet this Dark Queen poses a threat to the time stream?" Goliath asked.

    Pluto nodded, "A long time ago, I ran into her. She had the Phoenix Gate and was attempting the same as she is attempting now. I stopped her, but the fight caused us both to lose the Phoenix Gate through it's own portal. It sent itself to 975 A.D. A young Princess found it, but did not know how to use it. She was bringing it as a gift for the Prince she was to marry. If memory serves me correctly, the Phoenix Gate was stolen from her as she slept. It was then passed from person to person -- until it came to a man known as the Archmage. He attempted to use it to change the time-line. Do you remember him, Goliath?" Pluto asked.

    "The Archmage!! Yes," Goliath began, "We had dealings with him on Avalon... shortly before Lord Oberon and Lady Titania had returned to their island. I eventually took the Phoenix Gate from him... and sent it through time after Puck's failed attempt to take it from me."

    "And that is how I retrieved it. I must thank you, Goliath. Unfortunately, this Dark Queen, Araniwa, wishes to regain the Phoenix Gate. She has waited a long time to find it again,"

    "How long??" Broadway asked.

    "Long enough... as time goes," Pluto explained.

    Suddenly, a woman appeared a mere ten feet from the others. She looked at Sailor Pluto, and spoke. "Enough jabbering. I believe you have something I want!!"

    Pluto turned to the woman, "I shall not let you have it, Araniwa..."

    "You may have no choice... ATTACK!!" The Dark Queen shouted. At least 50 creatures appeared around the Sailor Soldiers. "This is my army... let us see if you can defeat them!!"

    Each Soldier attacked as many monsters as possible, with help from the Gargoyles. "There are too many of them!" Hudson gasped, as he struck down another one with his sword.

    "STOP!!!" A voice shouted loudly over the battle. "I shall not allow you creatures to harm my friends!!" All eyes turned to the voice.

    "Sailor Saturn!!" Chibi-Moon shouted happily.

    Sailor Saturn held a weapon similar to a scythe. She raised it to the sky. "SILENCE GLAIVE..." she began, and quickly brought the weapon's blade down to the ground, "APPLY!!"

    There was silence as a small crack appeared in the cement beneath the blade. The crack slowly and quietly split up into branches, and each branch expanded to a monster. Suddenly, a loud explosion interrupted the silence... and each creature quickly disintegrated.

    The Dark Queen's eyes went wide, "You shouldn't have been able to heal so quickly from the wounds I gave you!"

    Sailor Saturn smiled, "Ah... you did not know everything after all!"

    Araniwa became angry, "You may have gotten rid of my youmas... but getting rid of me will not be so easy!" She quickly threw a wave energy towards the Sailor Soldier, knocking them to the ground. Then she looked towards the Gargoyles, "And you shall be punished for helping them..."

    The Sailor Soldiers got up quickly, and each Soldier tried their attack on the Dark Queen, but nothing worked. One more energy waved knocked each Soldier to the ground yet again, weakening them even more.

    "I told you I am not that easy to get rid of!!" Araniwa said, and laughed.

    Sailor Pluto stood up, "Then I must do the unthinkable," she began. She closed her eyes for a moment and took a deep breath.

    "Setsuna... you're not going to..." Sailor Moon began.

    "It is the only way, Princess," Pluto's eyes flew open. She looked at Araniwa, and held up her key staff, "DARK..." she began, "DOME...."

    "STOP!!!!!!!" Sailor Moon shouted.

    Pluto turned to her princess,  "I must use my final attack. I know it is forbidden, but how else are we to stop her? It will close the portal of time forever. That is the only way to end this!"

    Sailor Moon looked up at Araniwa "I will stop her myself!" She said to Pluto. Before Sailor Pluto could stop Sailor Moon, the broach in the middle of the bow on her uniform opened up. A bright crystal began to float out of it.

    "No... Sailor Moon... you musn't'! If you use it, you'll die!!" Jupiter cried from the ground.

    "You did not want ME to die," Pluto told Sailor Moon, "Therefore, I cannot allow YOU to die either!! You are the Moon Princess!!"

    Sailor Moon looked at her, "Yes. I AM the Moon Princess. Therefore, you have to do what I say..." She looked back at the Dark Queen with determination. The Silver Crystal floated between Sailor Moon's outstretched hands.

    Sailor Moon's Crystal began to glow. A wave of energy shot out from the crystal to the Dark Queen. The Dark Queen put up an energy shield and retaliated with her own attack. The two energy waves pushed against one another, and Sailor Moon's wave began to weaken. "Moon Child... I will do as I please! If I chose to take over Crystal Tokyo, then I will do so!!"

    Sailor Moon struggled, "Please... give me more power, Silver Crystal!!" She stretched her hands out even more, steadying the Crystal floating in the middle.

    The Gargoyles watched in awe as Sailor Moon's uniform transformed into a beautiful white dress. Sailor Moon herself appeared to take on an entirely different personality. "I, Princess Serenity of the Moon Kingdom, shall not allow the future to be destroyed!!"

    Suddenly, Tuxedo Mask stood up. His tuxedo then transformed into black armor. He too seemed to take on a different personality, "And I, Prince Endymion of Earth, shall stop you as well!" He walked over to Sailor Moon ... no... Princess Serenity -  and placed his hands over hers.

    The Crystal's light grew brighter.

    The Dark Queen was shocked, "Such resistance!!" She gasped. She was struggling for control. Then, the Crystal's light grew blinding, and the Dark Queen's power wavered... and soon dispersed. "NOOOOOOOO!!!" She shrieked. The Crystal's white light came over Araniwa, and within moments she was no more.

    Princess Serenity smiled, then the Silver Crystal shattered between her hands. Her eyes went blank. "SERENITY!!" Prince Endymion shouted as the princess fell to the ground. She began de-transforming... first back to Sailor Moon, then back to Usagi. And there she lay, unmoving, the broach and crystal lying shattered beside her.
