 hi :)
 Howdy.
 Ty'
*Ty's having dinner and there's not word from Gale either way.
I talked with him yesterday and he said he'd do his best to be here
* ElementalKnight nods.
 Cool.
* ElementalKnight goes back to fervently preparing.
 hehe
* Sephorus has joined #terranotos
 And lo, I return
Anything last-minute we need to do with the group?
 (( Stab things. ))
* Moryssa has quit IRC (Ping timeout)
 Or ping out.
 Indeed.
* Moryssa has joined #terranotos
Welcome back from the depths of Ping.
 hehe, thanks
 Heyo.
 howdy :)
And for the record, it's now 7:00 EST.
 Running a session tonight?
 Theoretically.
Assuming A. Gale shows and B. I can prepare myself enough. It's my first (real) IRC game.
 *nods*
* Moryssa has quit IRC (Ping timeout)
And assuming C. Moryssa stops pinging the fuck out.
* ElementalKnight 's done some I-DEMON battles before in IRc, but that was more for expediancy than for real-time fun.
 -.-
 That too.
 Hm...
Not to add any pressure, EK, but would you mind having a theoretical spectator?
 No problem at all.
"Spectators = people to draw ideas from" for me.
Ok. I just always ask - I know some GMs are like "OMG SPECTATOR WTFNO"
* ElementalKnight also makes a note to not set +m.
* ElementalKnight sets mode: +v Typhoon
I'm gonna get some ice cream.
 BRBtacular!
 Back
 OMGBACKNESS.
With brownie-fudge ice cream, no less.
 Le sigh
 Indeed.
* Moryssa has joined #terranotos
 *wave*
 Still a waitin'.
* ElementalKnight waits with teh ice cream.
* Sephorus keeps eating his trusty Hungry Man FYTFU meal.
hello again. I'm having an issue with Word...then I realized I could just check the site :P
YAY simple solutions to screw-you-over problems!
 hehe
 Hah.
 Oh, Ek.
 Hum?
 Actually...
* Sephorus grabs ElementalKnight and yanks him over to #SilverTech.
* ElementalKnight is Yoinked (4).
* ElementalKnight notes that it's now 7:30 EST, give or take a minute.
 -.-
 lemme call him...
 Yay for phones.
 Indeed.
* Moryssa stabs something
* ElementalKnight hides.
Gale says he couldn't get out of work. He said, if possible, start without him and he'll "catch up"
 Hum...
Do you two feel okay with that (going on and having him on autopilot)? Or would you prefer we reschedule?
I don't mind starting without him
If you're okay with it, I am as well
Okay. Ty? -er, that was fast.
Gimme a minute or two to get some more water and I'll see what we can pull off, then.
 k
* Moryssa is now known as Raza
* Typhoon is now known as Estrain
* ElementalKnight is now known as EK|GM
* EK|GM proceeds to Totally Wing It.
(That's always the most enjoyable way.)
 ((yep :) ))
(It's the only way I know how, really...)
Notos. A beautiful city, sunny, a cool breeze from the bay blowing in...
For some, that southern wind brings danger.
Others, excitement. Freedom. Or the smell of seagulls who just don't know how to stay clean.
But today, the winds smells of profits, adventure, and beginnings.
The Lial company, well known for its long history of quality armor and accessories, has been based in the city for what seems like ages. But soon, it will expand. Very soon.
"We've a large new store - huge, in fact - opening in the Eastern Tip in just over a week."
"I can't be there to officiate the opening myself, unfortunantly... But since you've expressed an interest in bringing our products to the public's eye, you three... shall go in my stead."
"And since you want adventure, I won't send the usual contingent of guards alogn with you. In fact, besides the two companions you've chosen already, I'm sending only one other person."
* Raza 's smile fades. "Another?"
 * Mr. Lial snaps his fingers once, and through a side-door to the large, comfortable room you're in that the GM forgot the describe floats a Moogle, with a large sack brimming with post.
"You won't have to worry about him. He won't fight for you, though he might be able to help you on occasion. Mailmoogles are independant like that."
* Raza doesn't look at all pleased. "If you say so...",
"Beyond your companion, I can't think of anything else that needs addressing... Ah."
"The opening, as I said, is in eight days. Don't rush, though - publicity stirred up along the way is much more valuable than simple expediancy."
* Estrain finally speaks up. "Do you need us to take any detours along the way, sir? Publicize in cities and such?"
"Is there... Anything you wish to ask before you depa-"
* Raza is too busy pouting to say anything.
 * Mr. Lial glowers a little at being interrupted, but answers anyhow.
If you fell it the best course of action, then do so. I'm not making your decisions or your maps for you."
 (*feel)
 "Anything else?"
"Is the Moogle gonna be coming back with us?"
"Not by my account, though if he happens to be sent in the same direction as you go it certainly would not suprise me."
* Raza brightens up a bit. Maybe this wasn't another of his chaperones.
*smiles eeeeeeever-so-slightly at Raza's smile* "Very good. If there's nothing else, I'd suggest you be on your way. I've got negotiations to undertake, so I... must be on mine."
 * Mr. Lial bows lightly to his daughter and her two, uhm, friends, and turns to leave the room through huge, ornate doors that the GM also forgot to describe.
* Raza waves. "Bye Daddy!." after making sure he's gone, she turns to Estrain and Kul'Vier, "Great, he's gone."
"Now we can finally get going before he decides to add someone else to join us. No offense," she says to the Moogle.
* Estrain turns towards the exit smoothly. "Hmm. Shall we go? A time limit's a time limit, no matter how long it is..."
 * Mailmoogle really doesn't seem to care. He just shrugs, a "it's what I do" sorta shrug.
* EK|GM simply assumes that the Group has headed out to get a move-on, since the silence is starting to worry him.
((yeah, just couldn't figure a way to type it :P))
Outside the Lial estate, the town bustles about with activity as it always does.
Boats pull into the harbor, their sails seen above the low buildings of the docks...
Palestra Magus stands still and foreboding on the eastern edge of town, with only the occasional explosion coming from its proving grounds - the school year's almost over, after all.
* Estrain turns to Raza. "Do we need to do any shopping before we leave? I can't think of anything I need..."
* Raza checks her purse. "Nope, I've got everything I need for now."
The back alleys are silent in the daylight, and the open-air markets are louder than they've a right to be.
 "Let's go, then."
The main roads out of town are only half-clogged - a good sign, since they'd normally be chock full of merchants and whatnot.
The western road has the usual incoming dwarves and men from the mountains; the northern ways their fair share of Delvers and vacationers heading off to the islands; the eastern mainway more merchants than anythign else.
* Estrain navigates his way through the crowds expertly. He's used to them, having practically grown up in the city streets.
* Raza adjusts her clingy cotton robe as they walk. Clingy in all the right places. "So, what do you think the opening will be like? I've never actually done something like that before. I just watched my dad."
"Normally you just get up on a platform, say something, and cut a rope or something similar. It's symbolic, or so I hear."
"You're probably going to do the speaking, being the heir and all that."
* Raza waves her hand dismissively. "No, it's more to it than that. You have to know the right thing to say and the right way to say it."
"Mmm. Words are words." He shrugs. "You speak them and they work or they don't, depending on the person. It's no science."
The roads slowly thin out, finally making it clear which one's which. There are, of course, only three real choices - West, North, and East - and only two would actually get anyone near the Eastern Tip, the North and East roads.
(BRB. If you need a litle more info, check the maps in the glossary on the site)
(you can't see the roads, but you cna probably imagine them somewhat.)
 ((k))
 (( Use your minds! :D ))
 "Hmm, decisions, decisions."
* Estrain guides the party north. "I believe the fastest way is this way."
 (back.)
"You're the map guy. But if you get us lost..."
 ((wb))
"Your threats do wonders for my performance," Estrain deadpans.
 (Northern road, then?)
(If there are no objections, yes.)
 ((yep))
(Well, I'M certainly not going to object, so...)
The road north from Notos has become something of a Delver's mainway in recent years.
Almost everyone who takes it is heading for Underhole, nowadays, and that's plainly evidenced from all the rough, brazen, and unshanven mercs both before and behind you.
 That and the tourists.
Actions may speak louder than words, especially in the language of the Merc, but the tourist's shirt is the loudest language of all.
* Estrain nods to Raza. "Stay close. You don't want to get lost here." He ignores Kul'Vier; he assumes the man can take care of himself.
 * Mailmoogle rests on Kul'Vier's head, deciding not to fly halfway across the country. Since the Okami doesn't object, he just assumes that it's okay by him.
* Raza nods. "These people are so...tacky."
 "And some of them smell."
"Don't say that, you'll get their attention!" Estrain hisses quietly.
THAT gets a few looks from some of the wanderers.
The tourists automatically think you're not talking about them.
"Hey! Who you callin' tacky, l'il miss?"
* Raza pulls in closer to Estrain.
"I'm sorry, ignore her. She doesn't do well in crowds, I'm afraid!"
"Yeah! We can smell yer hoity-toighty per-foo-mee all th' way o'er here!"
 * Another Random Merc snorts at this. "I'll say. Geeze..."
"Excuse me? This perfume cost more than both of your outfits combined."
"Ignore my companion, she gets stupid on Tuesdays!"
"An' 'ow many hours did YOu haveta risk yer life to get that per-foo-mee?"
  "Tuesdays... Real funny."
* Raza tightens her fist. She hisses at Estrain. "You're supposed to be my on my side!"
"That's easy when you don't act bloody stupid!" He hisses right back. "We don't need trouble right now!"
"An' if ya dun WANT it, ya best mind yer own bus-i-ness."
* Raza points a well manicured finger at the merc. "They started it," she wines.
"And I finished it. Be quiet, you spoiled child," he growls.
Two of the Mercs look perfectly ready to start something else, but their companions are holding them back. "Don't be stupid, just a kid who don't know what the hell she be talkin' about!" "Save yer fight for the Depths, man!"
"Uh! Eh! Oooh!" She pouts, but doesn't say another word.
The tourists, vultures that they are, begin to flash lights from boxes haging around their necks at the Mercs.
 (*hangin)
 (...Me no type good.)
* Estrain gives a brief, thankful nod at the mercenaries helping him and continues to guide the other two onward.
The three-plus-one pick up the pace, the two Mercs still trying to get at them from farther back.
The sound of a scuffle can be heard as their companions introduce logic to them through the virture of blunt objects.
* Estrain gives a brief thanks to Lady Luck under his breath as he continues onward.
* Raza mutters many curses at Estrain, the mercs and peasantry as a whole.
 (Hm.)
Time passes; just how much is a bit hard to tell - no fancy clocks or anything.
The new group of people the three ifnd themselves with seems slightly, uhm, more well-shaven than the previous Mercs.
In fact, much more well-shaven... And better dressed.
Their robes aren't quite the standards of high society, though they're not the bargin-bin-from-last-year. They're not as rough-and-tumble as the Mercs back there, either.
* Estrain just continues onward, after giving Raza a look that says, "Don't you DARE say a word."
...Also, looking around, there aren't any tourists. This in itself is a blessing.
* Raza opens her moth but closes it, staring daggers at Estrain. She was actually starting to feel better not being with the riffraff.
 * One particular nice-looking man in a black robe nods at the three from atop a Chocobo. "'ello. ...Y'all ain't Mercs, y'all ain't tourists, and y'all ain't Chocobos... So what are y'all doin' up this way?"
"We're a group on our way out of the city. We're going towards the Eastern Tip on business."
* Raza puts on her brightest smile. "What about you? Where are you heading to?"
"Business, eh? That's kinda what we're all doin', too," the black-robed man says, pointing at a few other people riding beside him - One in a green suit of armor, and the other in a business suit with a pencil behind his ear.
 * Greenie nods at the three, Raza especially.
 * Business Suit just looks uncomfortable as hell on his bird.
"Are you heading to the Eastern Tip as well?" Raza looks quite hopeful.
"Uah, as a matter a fact, yeah! It's 'is idea, really," he says with a point to the Business Suited one. "Got some big ideas, 'e does."
* Raza takes a closer look at the Suit. "Is he some kind of scientist?"
 * Business Suit turns slightly in his saddle, and nearly keels over. Greenie keeps him up with his foot.
"Ah think so. He calls 'imself a... ah, whawazit... an "amplifier 'a opportunities through mechanical an' scientifical means"."
* Estrain stops. ~She says, "Why don't you come along with us!" in five, four, three...~
"Why don't you come along with us? We'd definately enoy the company."
 ((:P))
 * Mailmoogle can smell the countdown, too, but he doesn't care as much. Chocobos are more comfortable than this guy's head.
"Ah don't see why not... Boss, any objections to travellin' with this fine lady an' her friends?"
 * Business Suit has passed out in his saddle. Greenie's keeping him in it through a complex series of foot manuevers. Greenie shakes his head. "He probably wouldn't mind much."
* Raza doesn't seem to care about the passed out man. "Great! I'm Raza." She holds her hand out for the black robed man.
 (brb, s'ry!)
 ((np))
~The east street looked real nice. Crowded, yes, but nice. WHY did I have to pick the north street...~
* Raza . o 0 (This guy is hot! I bet Estrain is sooo jealous now.)
* Estrain is jealous, yes. Of the guy across the street who doesn't have to deal with this irriating girl...
 (Back)
 ((wb))
 * Black-Robed man returns the handshake, with a handsome smile to back it up. "Raza... I'm Jack, Jack Cross. The green fella's... Well, I dunno what his name is. But m' Boss' name is Alan Tercation!"
"Nice to meet you, Jack." Raza gave a seductive smile at the man.
"This is Estrain, Kul'Vier and...a moogle."
 * Greenie shakes his head. "Keep your head on your shoulders, Jack." Alan declines to comment.
(( For a second... I thought he said Alan Carscaddon ))
(I'd find that funny if I got the refeence)
 (...)
 (That's Teucer's last name)
 ((hehe))
 (Ah.
 (>.> <.<)
 * Greenie kicks Jack with his spare foot. "Hey, what'd I just say? Quit staring!"
 * Jack shakes himself out from his stare. "I wasn't starin'! I was just, uh-" "Admiring the view?" "Yeah!"
* Raza giggles. "Believe me. The feeling is mutual."
 (Hum...)
* EK|GM suddenly gets GM's Block! "...Dammit!"
 ((Woohoo!))
 (( ElementalKnight is affected by Writer's Block (U)! ))
(So, who wants to make the classic "So, how much EXP do I get for killing the plot?" joke?)
 (You already did. >.>)
 (...Fsck.)
 ((hehe))
Just as The Official Romantic Moment of the Session has ended, the group notices that it has moved into a thick wooded area, the southern edge of the forests that lay in the middle of Terranotos.

 (( *nods* ))
 (Better than -10/41.)
(( Shouldn't, ahhh... player #3 be on autopilot here? ))
 "Are you okay?"
(Heh, true. And the bastard stole one of my tonics, too. -.-)
"Of course I am. I suffer from multiple stab wounds everyday, after all."
(Kul'vier is kicking ass somewhere Over There. If things get too bad he's my DEM.)
 (( Right ))
"Don't get smart with me! I'm trying to help you."
"Yeah, yeah. Less talking more shooting!"
* Estrain takes it safe and gulps down a Tonic.
Desil goes up by 25 HP to 30/41. He's now without any means of healing himself whatsoever, sans abilities or whatnot.
 END ROUND 1.

 END ROUND 4.
 Status Phase.
Bandit A continues to show his mad skills, Desil's KOed, Things Look Bad For Our Heroes.
 BEGIN ROUND 5.
 !roll 1d10
 !roll d10
 EK|GM - 1d10: 8 ( Total: 8 )
 Raza - d10: 4 ( Total: 4 )
 Bandit A: 17, Raza: 11
 ((Raza's speed is 6))
 (And uber-Bandit strikes again)
Bandit A nods at Raza. "Mornin, ma'am. I was wonderin' if I might borrow any an' all val-u-a-bles you might have with you?"
 !roll 1d100
 EK|GM - 1d100: 6 ( Total: 6 )
(D'oh, right. Mixed it up with Desil's. Once again, it doesn't matter, though...)
 !roll 1d100
 EK|GM - 1d100: 75 ( Total: 75 )
"Don't talk to me you filthy bandit!"
The bandit manages to grab a Tonic from the nice lady.
 "Give that back!"
* Raza shoots another arrow at the bandit.
 !roll d100
 Raza - d100: 13 ( Total: 13 )
 Hit.
 For once.
 !roll d10+14
 Raza - d10+14: 4 ( Total: 18 )
((hey, I hit him the first time. just not hard enough :P))
Bandit A jumps out of the way of the arrow... only to hit his head on a nearby tree.
 He's out.
 END COMBAT.
"No one steals from a Lial."
* Estrain bleeds.
 217 x 3 Bandits = 651 EXP, 84 x 3 = 252 Gil.
 SPOILS:
 !roll 3d100
 EK|GM - 3d100: 68, 66, 85 ( Total: 219 )
Raza gets her Tonic, Desil's Tonic, and an extra Tonic.
(Is that 651 EXP and 252 Gil EACH, or pre-split?)
((You should wake up at 1 HP now, I think))
 Indeed he does.
 Pre-split.
I'm tempted to say that Raza gets it all.
 (...)
 But that wouldn't be nice.
* Raza tosses the half-conscious man his Tonic back.
So, split up, it's 325 EXP each and 126 Gil each.
 (We're ignoring Kul'Vier?)
 Uh...
((He's not in the battle with us))
We'll say he got the same amount Over There.
* Estrain catches the tonic woozily, and almost drops it. He staggers to his feet, wincing, and hurriedly works to starch his wounds.
 * Jack finishes off his bandit with a good, swift kick to the head as the bastard lays on the ground. "You alright o'er there, Raza?"
* Raza is still quite angry. "I can't *believe* he had the nerve to steal from me! ME!!"
~I'm bleeding half to death,~ Estrain thinks, dreamily, ~and she's angry about being stolen from?~
 * Jack takes that as a yes.
((ah, the priorities of the rich and spoiled))
 * Greenie mumbles, "Shouldn't you be worried about Alan first? Romantic idiot..."
* Estrain raises his head wearily. "Hey, Jack," and his voice slurs, "Medic?"
 * Alan lays unconcious on the ground, his pockets inside-out from the rampant thieving.
* Sephorus has quit IRC (Ping timeout)
The Mailmoogle gets off of Kul's head and wanders over to the group, where he sets a small blue crystal on the ground.
The crystal flashes, and up pops a mechanical device with a flashing screen and a small, black card inserted into a slot on the side.
 "SAVE? Y/N"
* Estrain bleeds on "Y"
* Raza uses estrain's finger to press the bloody "Y"
 *Estrain
 * Mailmoogle takes out the little black card and files it away in his pouch.
* EK|GM is now known as ElementalKnight
* Raza is now known as Moryssa
* Estrain is now known as Typhoon
 WOW but that rocked.
And I have gotten a better idea of exactly what being a bodyguard entails
 that was sooo fun!!
 Ayep.
I think I'll stay away from that career, thanks
lol, I'm glad you learned something ;)
* ElementalKnight is VERY happy with the results.
* ElementalKnight also makes a note to give Bandit A a name.
* Typhoon kicks Highwind for good measure.
 You suck.
 You really, really suck.
* ElementalKnight also makes a note to give the next enemy Crit 10%...
Hey, it was consistent with your unlucky Gambler
 Aye.
 that's not nice :P
 Yeah, true
Jinx did you in, but your actual jnx is what screwed ya.
 *jinx
 hehe, talk about irony
 and my horrible logic/math/typing skills!

 Thanks.
And with that compliment, I'm gonna upload the chatlog to the site. Gimme a minute or three.
