Starting Up in Terranotos

In Terranotos, things are handeled a bit differently in regards to a few things:
Namely, packing and the distribution of money.

Packing

Items are held in, effectively, a "backpack" that holds (2 x STR) items. Items
cannot be stacked - that is, two Potions take up two slots - and equipment is
included in this space. It is highly recommended that you not start with less
than 3 STR, as to do so would make it difficult for you to carry your basic
armor and weaponry.

It is possible that you may gain more storage space throughout the campaign,
besides from increasing your STR.

Money

The players choose how money will be handeled. Three suggested ways:

1. Earthbound style. Defeat a monster, money is distributed upon doing
one's "job," or when selling garnered materials.
2. Money actually depends on your business sense, whatever your business may
be. Some days you'll gain more than you'd expect, some days, less.
3. Old fashioned monsters-drop-the-money style. My least favorite, honestly.

And yes, monsters that would have cash, like people, would still drop it.

I also encourage players to make money as the rest of the populace does -
mainly, exploiting the Depths in some way. Whether looting, starting a
business, or whatever, using Terranotos' main source of income is an easy way
to pay the rent.

Notes and Thoughts on Character Creation

1. Don't be afraid to go a bit crazy. Since, more likely than not, it'll just
be you, your team and nothing else, going a little out-of-bounds on
the "standards" is probably a good idea. For example, in a team of a
Swordsmaster and a White Mage, the White Mage may well want to get Secret
Training: Swords
, so as to not be completely useless in a Silenced or MP-
less state.

2. Don't be afraid to go really crazy. Think you can pull something off
with a Mute White Mage and a Blind Swordsmaster? Go for it! I'm not grading the
character sheets or the teams thereof on apparent combat effectiveness, so
there's no reason to not.
