Excerpt of the report of Voi Uristik, security guard for the Hoth base
medical center:
I had only heard about all the commotion that had gone on before. They had me
assigned to supply duty at that time so all my info was coming through other
people. About how Commander Skywalker had got himself lost planet-side after
hours and that Captain Solo took off after him right before the night's
shut-down. There was a lot of panic going on the next morning until they
found them holed up in that little shelter.
Well, it was a few days after that when I was stationed just down the hall
from Skywalker's room. He had recovered and it was just before the evacuation
of the base.
That particular night, Skywalker had his usual visitors: Princess Leia, those
annoying droids of his, a few odd officials here and there. It was quiet once
they had gone, and I had settled myself in to doze during shut-down. Next
thing I know, Solo is stomping down the hall heading into Skywalker's room.
Two things struck me as strange. First, it was well after-hours and second,
he was swinging one of those straps they use to secure supplies onto the
transports. I know 'cause I got a real close look when it whizzed by my nose
as he passed me by. In the doorway, he turned and told me to take off. He
stared at me until I started moving away. I mean, would you want to disobey
him? I've heard the stories.
Once the door slid shut, I moved back to hear what was going on. By the look
on Solo's face, it must have been serious and I am not above trying to gather
a little info before it hits the rounds. There was no sounds coming from the
room that I could hear at first. They must have been talking real low. Then
all of a sudden, the shouting started. The recorders picked it up so I'll
play you the part that happened next.

SOLO: "You will lay there and you will take this and you will understand what
will happen the next time you do something stupid!"
SKYWALKER: "You have no right!"
WHACK
SOLO: "I have every right and you know it. Do you even understand what could
have happened that night?" WHACK "You tell me that you are going to check
out a meteorite strike, then shut off your comm before I could reply. You
knew I would tell you to return to base. " WHACK "You knew that shut-down
was coming, yet you took off anyway." WHACK, gasping "You get yourself
caught by a Wampa, of all things. You know how dangerous they are!" WHACK
"I have to go out, after shut-down, to find your skinny ass." WHACK "I find you half-dead!" WHACK, WHACK, WHACK, muffled sobbing "I have to cut open a tauntaun to keep you alive until I built the shelter." WHACK "Do you *know* how much they smell? And to stay next to you all night, stinking of tauntaun guts!" WHACK "You could have died out there, if I hadn't found you!" WHACK, WHACK, WHACK, loud sobbing and wailing "Do you know what that would have done to me?" WHACK

There I stood in the hall, listening to all this. I wasn't sure if I should
go in and stop it or ignore it. I decided on ignoring it. Skywalker sure
seemed like he needed someone to beat a little sense into him and Solo seemed
the man for the job, if you know what I mean.
It seemed time for me to take myself off to a quiet corner until the coast
was clear. All that was coming from the room now was crying and them talking
low. But as I turned to leave, I heard one more thing. Skywalker was saying
it over and over again. It was too low for the recorders, but I could just
make it out. He was saying "The Force is with *you*."
