Main characters: Fox Mulder Skinner, Walter Skinner, Jr., Walter and Rachel
Skinner, Sr. and Dana and Maggie Scully.
Fox Mulder slipped into the back door quietly, wincing as he walked. He
was trying to get to his room when he heard, "Fox? Is that you, dear?"
It was his Gram speaking and he had to reply, "Yes, Gram, I'm just going to
go up to my room."
"Nonsense, come into the living room and give your grandmother a hug, boy,"
ordered his Gran.
"Yes, sir," replied Fox as he tried to walk as if nothing was bothering him.
He entered the room to see not only his grandparents and father but Scully
and her mother, too. He knew his grandparents were coming for a visit but
had no idea that Scully and her Mom were coming for supper, too.
He dutifully walked over and leaned down to give him grandmother a kiss and
hug. He was pulled into another hug by his grandfather who said, "Aren't
you going to greet the ladies, boy," giving him a small smack on the butt to
send him on his way.
It was all Fox could do not to cry out loud and bit the inside of his cheek
to keep from crying out. He said, "Good evening Mrs. Scully, Dana," and
returned to stand near his father's chair.
"Now that we are all here, we can have supper. Fox, your grandmother
brought her delicious lasagna; we kept it warm in the oven until you
returned. What kept you, son? " His father asked.
"Oh, I just got tied up and couldn't get away until a few minutes ago,"
replied Fox skirting the truth. "I'm starved, but first let me wash up and
get out of these running shorts, I'll just be a minute." He finally managed
to escape to his room, missing the look Walter and his father exchanged.
"That boy was up to something," was the thought that ran through their
minds.
As soon as Fox reached the safety of his room, he locked the door and pulled
down his pants and boxers and peeked at the condition of his bottom. It
was bright red and sore.
"Oh, how am I going to keep this from the people downstairs. It's going to
hurt when I sit down and bringing a pillow is going to be a give away," he
thought as he pulled the rest of his clothes off. He decided to dress in a
pair of his largest sweatpants; wearing underneath a pair of boxers and over
that a pair of sweat shorts. He set carefully and found that it had helped
and he felt that he could make it through supper.
"Fox. Supper," his father called from downstairs.
Fox opened his door and called back downstairs, "Coming," and hurriedly put
on a clean t-shirt and carefully walked downstairs. He gingerly took his
seat in between his grandparents.
"Fox, I should make you go back and change into something more presentable,"
scolded Walter, "You are too sloppily dressed." He knew for sure that
something was up now. After a quick glance at his father, he also knew that
once again, they shared a similar thought.
Light conversation was made during supper and Fox made a point not to
include himself in any of it. The sooner supper was over and the guests
gone the sooner he could retire to his room and hide the fact of his red and
sore bottom to his folks. It was embarrassing and why it always seemed to
happen to him, he didn't know.
"Fox? Fox!" shouted Walter before Fox woke to the fact that someone was
trying to get his attention.
"Uh, sorry Dad. I was thinking about something else. you were saying?"
"Not me, son, your grandmother was asking you a question," Walter answered.
"Oh, I'm sorry, Gram. would you mind repeating that?" He asked politely.
"Fox, I was just asking if you had recovered from your encounter with the
Persuader?"
A sudden blush told everyone that something was up as Fox stammered,
"Uh. y-yes. ma-am-m, w-why do you ask-k?"
"Only because, you have been squirming in your chair for the last few
minutes. It is a squirm I'm familiar with, dear. now tell me the truth, is
it uncomfortable for you to sit in that chair, because if it is, then your
grandfather hit you too hard. You should have been over that days ago,"
Rachel stated firmly.
"Mom, I can tell you that he has recovered from that strapping last week. if
he is squirming now, then it means that he has been punished by someone
other than me," Walter said firmly. "Fox, if it wasn't me, and I know it
wasn't Dad or Mom, since they just got here. Dana? Maggie? Did either one of
you have reason to warm my son's bottom recently?"
"Daddddddd," hissed Fox as the implication of being spanked by the other
people in the room caused him to blush.
Both Dana and Maggie shook their heads in denial. "Oh, the mystery
deepens," Walter, said as he turned to look at his son. "Fox, what do you
have to say about this?" Fox began to think of a reason for him to squirm
when his father continued with, "Just remember what will happen to you if
you lie."
His father's warning stopped Fox in mid thought and he admitted, "I was
paddled by some old people when I was in the midst of my run tonight."
It came out in a whisper, which caused Rachel to say, "You were paddled by
whom, dear? I'm afraid I didn't hear that last part."
"I said, I was in the midst of my run, just starting it really when I was
delayed and paddled by some older people," he said out loud, blushing as he
finished.
"You were paddled by older people??? Why?? Where??" Cried Dana, with a
snicker.
"They caught me as I was passing by that deserted old house just down the
street and said they were doing it because of my lack of compassion for you
when your dog was killed by the crocodile, Scully. They said I deserved
this impromptu paddling, that it would be a good lesson for me to learn,"
said Fox, as he started to rub his backside only to stop with a yelp of
pain. "By the way, did you tell anyone else about how your dog died?"
Dana paused as she thought the last few days over in her mind and then said,
"Uh, oh. surely it wasn't her?"
"Dana, can you elaborate on that uh, oh, please," asked Rachel.
"I was at my vet with my new dog the other day, and there was an older lady
there who said she was a friend of Mrs. Mary Lowe, Queequeg's former owner.
She heard that I had gotten the dog and was asking about him, so I told her
that the dog had been killed. I must have told her more than I intended
to. I'm sorry, Fox, I must have implied that he was killed on the case due to
the fact that you hadn't let me known what it was really about. I guess I
told her that I wouldn't have taken the dog into a dangerous situation in
which the dog could be killed. She took it upon herself to punish you.
Surely, one old lady couldn't have had the strength to hurt you that bad,"
asked Dana.
"She wasn't by herself," he admitted, "she had about ten other ladies and a
couple of older gentlemen with her and they used hairbrushes on me for what
felt like hours before leaving me," he blushed as he retold it. "There was
one that said, that I had better behave or they would be back to finish the
job. I've never been more embarrassed," he cried.
"Afterwards I walked home, wincing at each step, I couldn't even finish my
run," he concluded.
"Fox, if you have some Aloe Vera lotion, it will help take the sting and
fire out of your bottom," offered Maggie.
"Yes, ma-am," replied Fox, "I think there is Aloe Vera lotion somewhere
here. I'll put it on now; please excuse me." Fox pushed back from the
table.
Fox's grandfather stopped him and ordered, "Lower your pants, boy, I want to
see the condition of your bottom. You can do it in your room."
"Grannnnn. noooooooooo," Fox said as he tried to slip past his grandfather.
He didn't get very far as he was pulled around and pushed towards the
stairs.
His grandfather told Fox that he would accompany him to his room. As soon as
they arrived, he said, "Drop them, boy, and get on your stomach on your
bed. this isn't a request."
Fox took one look at his grandfather's face and sighed but did as he was
told. He pushed down the sweatpants and then sweat-shorts and finally his
boxers to reveal a very red bottom. Gran put his hand tenderly on his
grandson's bottom and felt the heat coming from this impromptu paddling and
placed a wet rag on it.
Fox hissed as the wet and cool washrag was gently placed on his enflamed
backside and then relaxed, as it felt so good.
His grandfather said, "You stay there, I'll be right back," and left to find
the Aloe Vera lotion. By the time he returned the rag had started to get a
bit warm, soaking up the heat from Fox's bottom.
"Hold still, boy, this is going to go on very cold but it will soothe you
and help you sleep." After warning him, Fox's grandfather applied the lotion
gently. By the time he had finished, Fox was nearly asleep. "Goodnight,
boy," he said as he pulled his boxers, shorts and pants off and covered him
with a light sheet.
When he returned downstairs, Fox's grandfather felt every eye on him. He
explained, "The old people gave him a good paddling. he won't be sitting
comfortable for a couple of days, but I think he won't forget this impromptu
lesson about compassion ever again, and just how much people love their
pets."
The end.
