Oekaki Overview
To start, you must go to the bar located at the top of the oekaki board.

I apologize for the blurry images. The first choice in the pull-down menu is to draw your picture without an animation. The second choice is to draw your picture with an animation. (For more information about animations, check the bottom!)
Once you select one of the two, click the Draw! button. (The two numbers are the height and width of the picture you're going to draw. The default is 300 by 300.)

Once you begin your oekaki, this is what your screen should show. Using this board is quite simple, but getting to know the uses of the various buttons on the board can be quite complicated. Here is the list of buttons that you can use:
Toolbar
- Solid. Use this to draw an outline.
- Water Color. Draw a nice transparent outline, or use this for watercolor type shading.
- Type Tool. Insert text into your image with this button.
- Tone. Mesh-style coloring. You can see this type of shading in black and white Manga!
- Shade-off. It smears/blends the colors on the canvas.
- HiLight. Lightens the colors on the canvas.
- Dark. Darkens the colors on the canvas.
- Rect. Draw a filled rectangle.
- LineRect. Draw an outlined rectangle.
- Oval. Draw a filled oval.
- LineOval. Dran an outlined oval.
- Copy. Click the button and drag the mouse over the area you want to copy, then release the mouse.
- Lay uniform. Merges the layers.
- Antialias. Blurs the selected area.
- ReverseLR. Reverses the selected area left to right.
- ReverseUD. Reverses the selected area up to down.
- lie. Rotates the selected area.
- White. Freehand erase tool.
- WhiteRect. Rectangle erase tool.
- Clear. Erase whole canvas.
- Freeline. Use his to draw freehand!
- Straight. Draw a straight line between points you make by dragging the mouse.
- Bezier. Drag the mouse, then click twice to adjust the line.
- Normal. No mask, where anything can be painted over.
- Mask. In this mode, the color you have selected will be preserved, so that no other color can be painted over it.
- ReMask. Inverts your mask, so that you can color over only the color that you have selected.
- And. Only colors parts lighter than the selected color.
- Div. Only colors parts darker than the selected color.
Color Palette
- Make your own colors by using the Color Mixer. You can copy colors by right clicking on the canvas at any time.
Color Mixer, Brush Size, and Saved Layers
- You can mix colors with the RGB (Red, Green, Blue) bars. Click on the three bars to experiment. The A (Alpha) bar controls how hard or soft your brush stroke is. The Brush Size (PX) button controls the width of your brush. Click to select sizes.
Layers

- The Layer that you're currently on. 0 is the lower layer, 1 is the top layer. Click on the button to change layers.
Once you're done with your picture, click the Send button. Your browser will refresh to a new page, where you can see your drawing. Below, there will be a form where you can put in your name, e-mail, URL, and comments about your drawing. Then, click send again!

On top of your picture, you should see some odd writing. First, there should be the picture number. Then, there should be the time it took for you to finish the picture. Next, if you chose the option to have an animation, you would have these characters (I circled it above) over your drawing. Click on these characters, and you will be able to view an animated version of your drawing! Nifty!
Hope this tutorial helped! Happy oekaki-ing! XD
