Jesse lives in Hoboken with his younger sister, Rose. They moved to the lodging houses there after he told her that they could no longer afford to live in their home in Queens. In reality, he's very fond of gambling and found himself in debt. When some people needed to collect on that debt, Jesse needed to get out of Queens. Rose knows none of this, and if she does, she does not let on that she knows. Jesse is very fond of his sister, but takes advantage of her good will terribly. He likes to spend his time having fun, which means he's usually out gambling, drinking, and flirting with women (his three favorite things). Though he has good intentions, he always ends up gambling away all of their money and getting them into trouble. He sometimes knows how badly he treats his sister, and at times tends to pull away from her out of guilt. He knows he's a terrible brother. On the other hand, he does love her very much and is very protective of her, and he would be sure to hurt anyone who treated her the way he does.
