The Ataris, a band from Anderson, Indiana has become a great familiar voice in the punk scene. Still on their way to the top, The Ataris, have been resposible for creating a pop-punk band that sings about all the somewhat useless things, to know in life. However, their great catchy, sing-along songs, have gave them that extra lift to becoming successful. The Ataris, from day one, have been working on three topics in all of their songs. These are Life, Girls and The Pursuit of Sanity. << I came up with that. Track 1, called 1-2-3-4 is a short instrumental and prety much contains the pittifully small amount of lyrics, “1-2-3-4”. Track 2, As We Speak, is a great song with fast lyrics. “I know I will go far, enough to tell you that I lvoe you but I know I am stupid, just because I run right back to you.” Track 3, Bite My Tongue, is an upbeat song and one of the best on the album. “ Bitch, Bitch, Bitch, Thats all you ever do.” It has small soft chords in chorus, then pounds at the verse. Great song! Track 5, Take Me Back, reminds me of that old song. “Oh baby, what can I do, every girl im with makes me think of you, I called your name in my sleep, to bad you think that im a creep.” Song 6, Are We There Yet?, is a real good song for jumping around to. Angry Nerd Rock, track 7, is a slow song that isnt really that good. Slow pretty much all through out the song. Dont care for it. Track 8, Let It Go, is a great fast song! “You gotta let it go, gotta let it go, and things’ll turn around, gotta let it go, and have some fun tonight.” Track 9, Lately, has got to be the best song on the album. “Lately ive been thinking about putting my head in a toaster, I never asked you to take me around on this emotional roller coaster.” Best song! Track 10, Alone in Santa Cruz, is pretty good, but reminds me of an oldie my dad listens to, just louder. Dont really care for it. Track 11, Make It Last, has a great tune that catches on really fast. Track 12, is a fast song but not really the most catchy lyrics. Track 13, is a great song! Called Four Chord Wonder, it is a very catchy song, probably also one of the best! “I got a little plan so listen up, we could write a four chord wonder and make a million bucks.” Track 14, Blind and Unkind, is not the best song or even close to it but it has got good lyrics. Track 15, Clara, has great guitar solos but not really that good. Track 16, Myself, has a great beat! Not very good to sing along to like The Ataris are known for. Song 17, Hell House is a great song with really good guitar solos. Pretty good lyrics, “Love is for morons, but whose this fucking idot, staring right back at me.” Track 18, Perfectly Happy, has pretty good lyrics! “Won’t be another statistic, wont be a minority.” Track 19, Box Car, is a great song as well. “My enemies are all too familiar, the ones who used to call me friend, I’m coloring outside the guidelines, was passing out while you were passing out the rules.” Track 20, Ray..., is a true punk track. Different vocals but still amazing lyrics.
This album is pretty good. But seeing as how it is their first album, I guess it is ok. I give this album 3 out of 5. Not very good, but bareable.
