The Ataris have been around for awhile and have been getting more well-known with each album. They’ve had many hit songs and tracks filled with the relationship soft-emo punk they are known for. This album doesn’t seize to point that out.
The first track, Losing Streak, is a good song you need to listen to carefully to pick up all those little details. It has a very catchy rhythm that I know you’ll enjoy. “no matter what you do, don’t ever compromise what you believe.” Track 2, 1*15*96, is a great Ataris song that really represents their pop-punk attitude and music. I like this song but it is pretty slow. Pretty nice guitar instrumentals. Track 3, San Dimas High School Football, Rules, is one of the best songs on this album. “Last night, I had a dream, that we went to Disneyland, went on all the rides, didn’t have to wait in line, I drove you to your house, where we stared up at the stars, I listened to your heartbeat as I held you in my arms.” Almost everyone can relate to this song, if you like girls that is. I won’t go more into that. I’ll just end this track 3 talk on this lyrics, “I swear I’d treat you like a queen.” Track 4, Your Boyfriend Sucks, is a great song about your love for that someone, but that someone loving someone else, who really doesn’t love her/him (if you are a girl) at all. “You said that I was your best friend, a real sweet guy, but that’s all I’d ever be.” pretty deep, and holds a lot of meaning. Track 5, I Won’t Spend Another Night Alone, is a great song! This is how I found out about this band. I was looking for a song called Night Alone on Napster and I came across this tune. Track 6, Broken Promise Ring, starts off with a nice instrumental. Then it gets fast and jumpy. “I really wanna call you, but I know that it’s not right, I probably shouldn't tell you, but I dreamt of you last night.” Then it slows down half way through and goes... “I guess that I’m wrong, for falling in love, you’re still the one I’m dreaming of...I guess that it’s you, that I want to hold onto, cause you’re holding onto someone else.” Track 7, Angry Nerd Rock, is a copy of the song they sang on their first album, “...Anywhere but Here”. I don't really enjoy it that much. They should’ve picked another song, to add, then again it goes along with the title and the emo meaning of this album. Track 8, The Last Song I Will Ever Write About A Girl, is a damn good song. If you don't have any money to go buy the album, download this song off your mp3 server. Track 9, Choices, isn't that great compared to the other great songs on this album, but has a good rythm. Track 10, Better Way, is pretty good. Track 11, My Hotel Year, is a great slow song. Track 12, is a really good Ataris song. Still not the best they can do.Track 13, Answer, is a really good song. “Everything is turning gray, but I won’t hold my breathe today, cause I’m not scared, and to tell you the truth, I just don’t care.” Track 14, Inspite Of The World, is pretty good but not the best. Good guitar and nice to end the album with.
This album is one of my favorite Ataris albums. I have three and this is one of the better ones. I suggest you get this album for the mere 14 bucks they sell it for. Really good and you won’t get tired of it. I give this album a 4 out of 5.
