How I Spent My Summer Vacation

This album is pretty good. Filled with positive energy and upbeat rhythms, it makes a pretty good party disc. One of the best tracks on the album is Track 2, Private Radio, has it’s own set of meanings that we think about all the time, but never put it to song. “I like to rock and I like to roll, when the music’s running through my soul, I’ve got no place to go but my own private radio”. We all have it and use it every day in our classes at school and when we are at the worst party with the worst music you’ve ever heard in your entire life. A very simple concept of a private radio. For a more serious and meaningful song, track 6 is where it’s at. The song Broken Record, isn't what you think. It’s not about your parents hassling you about grades and such. Here’s a line in the song: I walked the streets, till I lost my mind and that was the best place to be, when I lost my mind and the truth set me free”. It means that when you are just cruising and being alone without a care in the world, that is your best time, that is when the truth will set you free.
Please listen to the cd or a few tracks from it before you buy it. The music is louder than Greg’s voice and it might not sound right to the few of you who are just hearing of this band. Personally, I enjoy the sound so it doesn’t bother me, but make your own decision. Leave with this note, and the one below: The Bouncing Souls, born in New Jersey, remember their roots well, and are the real true believers in punk. Do not knock their style. They know who they are and where they come from, and that is all you need to be great.
Note: Note: Obviously, this is just the way I feel. Check the band out for yourself before you buy the album. Maybe take a look at their web site for a start.
