New Found Glory
“New Found Glory”

MCA/drive thru Records
Released: 2000

This album is probably not the best album that i have written about, but it certainly deserves a spot on the Album Reviews section. New Found Glory, a band straight out of Florida, has been in the punk scene awhile now, but only recently made it big with the mainstream hit, “Hit or Miss”. I have no idea where it went. it used to be huge on the radio here in Hawaii, but now its gone. Well, this song was good, but it’s pop-punk got a little tiring i guess for the Hawaii Radio Stations. This album is pretty good, besides some minor details.
Track 1, Better Off Dead, is a pretty good song to start off with, but it lacks the power and sencerity that NFG is known for. Track 2, Dressed To Kill, is a great example of what NFG can do! “You’re always dressed to kill, and you feel like you owe it to the world, but you owe it to yourself.” Track 3, Sincerely me, is one of their better tracks on the album. The singer repeats himself on some of the verse’s and makes it sound really good. “So sorry so, I’ve had a hard time very hard time, seeing less of you, I never thought you knew.” Track 4, Hit or Miss, is an ok song, but after awhile, it turns out it is’nt what you thought it was. “The needle on my record player has been wearing thin, this record has been playing since the day you’ve been with him.” Track 5, Second To Last, is a great song! Track 6, Eyesore, is a good song, not the best however. “And I say, say your name, when I fall, When I hit the bottom.” Track 7, Vegas, is a great fast pop-punk power too it’s core. Great guitar solo also. Track 8, Sucker, another great track. “We sit alone, all alone, being wrong never felt so right.” Track 9, Black and Blue,is yet another fast punk driven song. However, I admit it is not as good as the others. Track 19, what you have all been waiting for, Boy Crazy. It starts off with a party scene. Girls talking, then a guy walks up to them and says, “hey ladies, whats up?” The girls start laughing and teasing him. Story of life, no doubt about it. Track To Life for me. One of the better songs on this album would have to be that. Pretty indepth and insightful. Track 11, All About Her, is alright. I dont really like it. Doesnt have any loud pick up points. Track 12, Ballad For Lost Romantics, is a good song. Listen to it first if you get this cd.
In all, I dont really think I am pleased with this album as much as I was with, Nothing Gold Can Stay, released two years earlier. I like it, but it’s just not my type of music. You can go get it if you like NFG. But, if you feel the same way after spending $15 to get it, well then, “I Told You So.” I rate this album a 3 out of 5. I know, a little harsh but I just dont care for it as much as the other.

Note: Obviously, this is just the way I feel. Check the band out for yourself before you buy the album. Maybe take a look at their web site for a start.
