A poem I wrote for my mom and did in cross-stitch when I was about 11:
Whether we are in the same room,
or 5,000 miles apart
I will always love you
You will always be n my heart.

Moms are like angels who brighten our days In all kinds of wonderful, magical ways-
Thier thoughtfulness comes as a gift from above, And we feel we're surrounded by warm, caring love.
Like upside-down rainbows, Thier smiles bring the sun, And they fill ho-hum moments with laughter and fun
Moms are like angels without any wings, Blessing our lives with the most precious things.

When you thought I wasn't looking
you hung my first painting on the refrigerator, and I wanted to paint another.
When you thought I wasn't looking
you fed a stray cat, and I thought it was good to be kind to animals.
When you thought I wasn't looking,
you baked a birthday cake just for me, and I knew that little things were special things.
When you thought I wasn't looking
you said a prayer, and I believed there was a God that I could always talk to. When you thought I wasn't looking
you kissed me good-night, and I felt loved.
When you thought I wasn't looking
I saw tears come from your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but that it's all right to cry.
When you thought I wasn't looking
you smiled, and it made me want to look that pretty, too.
When you thought I wasn't looking
you cared, and I wanted to be everything I could be.
When you thought I wasn't looking
I looked . . . and wanted to say thanks for all those things you did when you thought I wasn't looking.

Every night before sleep my mom and I would always say this together.
Our versions went like this:
Now I lay me down to sleep - eep
Thank you God for this wonderful day - ay.
Then I would end it with Goodnight, sweet dreams, see you in the morning I love you! Below is the full version of the one above.

Now I Lay me down to sleep, I pray Thee, Lord, Thy child to keep: Thy love guard me through the night And Wake me with the morning light.

Father, unto You I pray, You have guarded me all day, Safe I am while in your sight, Safely let me sleep tonight.

Bless my friends, the whole world bless: Help me to learn helpfulness: Keep me ever in your sight: So to all I say good night. Good night! Good night!

Far flies the light: But still God's love Shall flame above. Making all bright. Good night! Good night! A Gentle prayer is what I'll say To close this peaceful, gentle day.

With gratitude that I have heard The pre-dawn chirpings of a bird. With thankfulness that I have seen The many hues of summer green. With singing heart that I could feel The soft warm grasses when I kneel. With love for those who give me care I softly close my gentle prayer.
