--- CHAD THE CHOSEN’S Victory in Saffron City Gym (by Michael Keens/ Exodus) --- I had taken a few days off travelling to train the gang, Hydro had soon evolved into a powerful and cool looking Wartortle, and my Psyduck... wasn’t making any progress. There was a Fighting Championship tournament soon to be held and I would probably use Ragecage for the competition, but then again, if I could get my Psyduck to evolve, it would be an even better choice. Shortly after entering Saffron City, I was attacked by a strange man in pink clothing with a Hypno. I tried to help but he kinda put me into a deep sleep and when I woke up, he was gone. I could have sworn I saw Tetsubo dashing into the big building, but I’m not too sure if it was him, it could have been anyone with turquoise hair, and though that may sound stupid, you should check this place out, you’ve got women with extremely long pink hair and others with orange hair that hang to the sides and look like a couple of monster hands or somethin’, Tetsubo’s hair isn’t nearly as unique as a great deal of others around this world. I waltzed into the Gym, confident that I would win again. It was a long hallway with twisted designs all around, I went straight for the large double doors and pushed them open, at the other end of the arena was a darkened throne, I jumped as two glowing eyes formed, and then revealed to me was a young woman in red with an evil stare. She sat on her throne and looked at me, I couldn’t help feel that my whole soul was being examined by her. “My... Aren’t you a little too old for this?” “What do you mean?” “I mean, only people your age that train Pokémon are either professionals or Gym Leaders, for you to be training such novice Pokémon at your age is quite sad.” “I don’t know where you get your information, but you’re totally wrong! CHAD THE CHOSEN’S POKÉMON ARE MUCH BETTER THAN NOVICES! AND I’M NO CHILD!” “I rest my case, you act like a child.” she sighed and floated off her throne. “Hey, nice trick, I can’t even see the ropes!” I commented. “Its no trick.” she said, and I was lifted into the air a little. “This is the power of Psychic, and my Pokémon also share my power.” “Bring ‘em on! I’ll take on anything!” “Go... Hypno.” “Hypno...” “Aw no! I hate psychics.” I commented. “In that case, you’re going to despise me.” said replied. “I CHOOSE YOU HYDRO!” “His long range attacks might be an advantage.” I thought. “Hypno, use Hypnosis.” “WATER GUN!” It splashed down on him and Hydro didn’t see the eyes, it shook itself off a little annoyed. “USE YOUR BUBBLE ATTACK!” “Poison Gas...” Both attacks went through each other but the gas left an after-effect. “War’tor’tle!” shuddered Hydro. “HOLD ON HYDRO, WE NEED SOME POWER, GET IN CLOSE AND USE BITE ATTACK!” “Psybeam.” “GET INTO YOUR SHELL AND SPIN!” He leapt up and spun, the Psybeam knocked him a little off course but he rebounded and continued towards his target, a couple more Psybeams were thrown at him and his oddly shaped tail got the next hit and half the Psybeam was thrown back at the Hypno, I can’t explain how that happened and I don’t think anyone cares. “Hypno!” “BITE IT NOW!” The Hypno leaped up in pain. “Psybeam.” “SKULL BASH!” The beam flew at Hydro’s head but he had sunk into his shell, then he shot up and the Hypno was catapulted into the air and fell to the floor. “Go Kadabra.” said the Gym Leader darkly with an evil stare. “Ku-dabra!” “HYDRO! ANOTHER SKULL BASH!” “Psychic attack.” Hydro withdrew into his shell and then shot forward, at least, that’s what he thought he was doing, the actual fact was that the Kadabra had him suspended in the air. “Wartortle! Wartortle! Wart-” Poison struck him, the Kadabra was using Psychic attack not to damage Hydro but to hold him while the poison ran through him. “BUBBLE, WATER GUN!” I shouted frantically. He did both, bubbles flew and popped on the Kadabra, followed by a blast of water. The Kadabra was distracted and Hydro flew down at him and finished the Skull Bash I had originally asked for. Hydro was a Pokémon that took initiative when it got angry, he had a temper shorter than most. “YEAH! YOU GO BOY! EVEN IF I DIDN’T TELL YOU TO, THAT’S STILL A GOOD STRATEGY. NOW ITS MY TURN, BITE IT!” He grinned and ran forward, but then fell to the floor and breathed heavily. “Return...” I needed something to surprise her, that is, unless she was reading my mind, I decided to test it out, I thought to myself, “She’s pretty cute, I wonder if she’d go out with me?...” Nothing, she didn’t react at all and I’m sure if she was reading my thoughts, she would have quit the match, given me my badge and gone on a date right away. My Psyduck could hit it hard with its attacks, I know he’d need a headache to do so but Psychic Pokémon always gave me a headache. “I CHOOSE YOU, HEADACHE!” “Psy?” “USE TAIL WHIP!” He wagged his tail pathetically, but it was getting the Gym Leader confused. “NOW WATER GUN!” He spat a small blast but it was hardly an attack. A confident grin formed on the Gym Leader’s face, “Confusion.” Headache flew into the ceiling. “Psy.” Then down to the floor. “Psy.” Then up again. “Psy.” Then down again. “Psy.” Then, oh you got the point. “Headache!” I shouted. “Psssssyyyyy...” His eyes formed the horrifying blue glowing death stare and his personality also changed. “Duck!!!” he yelled madly. The Kadabra froze. “NOW! USE YOUR CONFUSION!” Now it was Headache’s turn to do the controlling, but he took it a step further and sent it ricocheting around the room, after he was done, he held the Kadabra in the air, then the blue glow faded and he returned to his usual goofy self. “Psy?...” He was back. “Dabra!” screamed Kadabra as he finally fell back down to earth. He was out of it, now He had the headache. The Gym Leader looked somewhat surprised, I knew sending my Psyduck out would confuse her. “And here is the Marsh Badge...” she said producing a coin-shaped object which floated over to me, with some trickery involved I’m sure, “Perhaps you’re a bit more mature than I thought, but lose the heroic voice and poses.” she commented. “HEY! I’M CHAD THE CHOSEN! I DON’T CHANGE FOR NO ONE!” “Never mind.” she said in an annoyed tone, floating away. I left the Gym with my sixth Gym Badge, not long to go now, I departed to the Pokémon Centre and got an early night's sleep, that creep had totally ruined my sleeping pattern. I don’t know what happened to the juggling guy but I’m sure Tetsubo took care of him. How do I know this? He’s always been the big hero, but not near as close to me, I just had an offday, that’s all. I’m gonna end this here, and I’ll write again when I either take on another Gym Leader, or do a heroic act, which I think is more likely.
