--- My Victory of Aquamarine Town Gym (by Michael Keens/ Exodus) --- Since the battle at Grey Town, I’ve been toughening up my Pokémon a little. Little Dragoon has grown into a powerful Dratini and after I saved it, it willingly opted to join my cause. We finally arrived at the next town over, the town of Aquamarine. It was a busy port town with many ships. “No, Rattata...” cried a young child. “I’m afraid I’ll have to ask for the money now.” I said confidently. I know it seemed rotten to take money from kids after beating their Pokémon but Casey should never have been involved in that crash. It was for the greater good. “Here you go, thanks for the battle...” “Pikachi, Return.” “Pika!” That was challenger number three and the last of the available trainers here. Now it was time for the Gym. It was located in the old lighthouse, where the arena was a tiled floor with a round pool in the centre. Up on a step at the opposite side was a man with spiky blue hair and wearing a blue suit. “Let’s not beat around the bush.” he said cheerfully, “I’m Seamus, you’re a challenger. You want a badge and I’m willing to battle anyone who wants one.” I smiled a little, this was the sort of Gym Leader I wished to face, straight to the point and not rude or conceited. “Let’s dance.” I said. “Three-on-three then, Go Tentacruel!” “Go Squirt!” “Tenta-Cruel!” “Poli!” Usually I would use my power Pokémon Shard but it was obvious that this was a Water Pokémon Gym, Shard would be useless here. It was time to prove to myself that my other Pokémon were capable of such tasks. “Tentacruel, Poison Sting!” “Squirt! Water Gun!” He was strong enough to repel the needles. “Hypnosis!” The water cleared and Squirt’s eyes were glowing. “Tenta...” “Squirt! Body Slam!” “Poli!!!” He gave a good hit, but was struck by the Tentacruel’s claw. “Poli!... Poli!... Poliwag!” he muttered bouncing to the floor. “Tenta!!!” “Tentacruel! Constrict!” The tentacles easily wrapped around Squirt. “Squirt!” “Poli... POLI!!!” He was suffering. “Squirt! Another Hypnosis!” He struggled, but turned himself to meet the Tentacruel and sent him into a trance. “Doubleslap!” The tentacles loosened and Squirt used his tail to slap it hard. “Poison Sting!” “Finish it with Water Gun!” “Poli!!!” The water jet hit home and the Tentacruel skidded backwards but not before swinging a tentacle at Squirt. “Tentacruel, Return.” Squirt was breathing heavily. “You’d better return too, Squirt.” “Small Pokémon, yet very powerful, I see I’ll have to be cautious with you. Go Starmie!” “Miiieee...” it shouted in a shrill voice. “Hmmmm, I choose you, Dragoon!” “Tiiinnnniii!!!” it wailed then adopted a fighting pose. “A Dragon-type...” mused Seamus, “Starmie! Double Edge!” “Dragoon! Dragon Rage!” “Tiiinnniii!!!” A few flames erupted from the little dragon’s mouth and collided with the Starmie. It flew out of the explosion, flames burning each of its points, but it continued spinning, into a flaming blade. Dragoon was hit. “Dragoon!” “My Starmie is a very strong contender, it can withstand practically everything.” “Even its type weakness? Dragoon! Thunder Wave!” “Mmiiiieeee!!!” It fell to the ground surrounded in electricity. “You know what to do Starmie, turn that attack into a Thunderbolt!” It spun itself around and the energy built up around it. “Wrap attack!” Dragoon charged forward and was hit by the blast, but some of the electricity reflected off Dragoon and back onto the Starmie who was of course weak against Electric attacks. “Star!” “Tiinnnn...” “Hang in there.” I had to think hard about this one. Perhaps a physical weak point was needed. “Dragoon, go for the gem! Use your Agility!” It slithered forward, fast, bouncing a little at times to propel itself. “Okay, now use your Slam attack!” He flew forward and hit the Starmie with all his strength. “Tiinnniiii!!!” it celebrated, and a bright light surrounded it. It was happening so soon, he grew up and wings sprouted on his head along with some decorative bells on its tail. Dragoon had evolved into a Dragonair. “Alright Dragoon!” “Starmie...” Seamus shut his eyes apparently deep in thought. “Its time... Go... Gyarados!!!” “Rrreeeaaaahhhhh!!!” it screamed towering over me and Dragoon. “Oh boy... Dragoon! Thunder Wave!” “Gyarados! Bite it!” “Rreeeaaahhh!!!” It flew forward and smashed through the Electric attack and tore into Dragoon, literally, then electricity ran through it. “Good job Dragoon. You did you best.” I said recalling him, the bite was quite severe. “So it flies, that probably makes it a Water/ Flying-type, and that would make it double-weak against Electric attacks. I know its a big physical difference but I’ll have to go with... Pikachi!” “Pika!” he shouted confidently, then he saw the competition. “Pika...” “You’ve got the type advantage, I’m sure you can do it.” “Pika...” he said in an unsure tone, yet ready for battle. “Gyarados! Hydro Pump!” “Pikachi, Thunderbolt!” The huge water jet hit Pikachi hard, but he quickly unleashed the attack which conducted the water and travelled all the way back to Gyarados. “Reeeeeeaaaahhh!!!” it wailed falling backwards. “Dragon Rage attack!” “Quick Attack, Pikachi!” He ran forward and dived to the side to avoid the Dragon Rage attack then charged into the Gyarados. “Gyarados-” Pikachi was too close to avoid another attack. “Swift attack!” I shouted, hoping he was experienced enough to learn this attack. The stars shot forward and blinded the Gyarados for a moment. He pulled it off perfectly, perhaps he was more experienced than I thought. “Gyarados! Hyper Beam!” The most powerful Normal-type move without too much feedback, and too wide an attack to slip around. “Pikachi, Agility!” The only way to avoid it now would be to get to Gyarados before he fired. “Pika!...” he squealed charging forward. The beam erupted from Gyarados’s mouth and ploughed through the tiled floor, and Pikachi made it through just before it did. “Pikachi! Finish it off with Thunder!” In mid-air, he turned to me and smiled, before charging himself up. “Pi... Ka... CHU!” A huge onslaught of electricity followed and the Gyarados collapsed to the floor. Seamus’s mouth was hanging, “Gyarados...” A little later after recalling the Pokémon and after Seamus had phoned someone to fix the floor, he presented me with my badge. “Here’s your Wave Badge. You should be very proud of your Pokémon. You all worked very well, especially that Pikachu against my high-level Gyarados. I’m very happy to have battled you. Perhaps we should do it again someday.” said Seamus. “Maybe, but I’ve got a mission to fulfil before that day can happen. But I’ll make sure I don’t forget.” I replied. He smiled and presented me with my second badge, a symbol of many waves shooting at all angles. “The Wave Badge...” I held it up and reminded myself of the work me and my Pokémon did for it, I was one step closer to getting into the Pokémon League and completing the mission I had set for myself. --- Scott's First Gym Battle Chad's First Gym Battle Back to the Side Stories Back to the Pokézone
