Chapter 10: The Cerulean Sisters (Part A) by Michael Keens/ Exodus The next morning, we had our breakfast at the Pokémon Centre, I had decided to send Dusty back for a while. “So I just put the Pokéball here and you’ll receive it?” “Yes Tetsubo, then you’ll be able to give your Oddish a Pokéball to stay in, without it being transferred here.” answered Professor Blossom. “Okay then.” I put Dusty’s Pokéball in and saw the computer readout of the Venomoth being transported to Professor Blossom’s place. I heard a familiar voice, Emily was at the next console, talking to a man with orange hair, beard and glasses. “Your Beedrill has been transported here.” “Please take good care of it Professor Beech.” she said. “Goodbye Blossom, Dusty, I’ll pick you up soon.” “Venomoth!” I walked over to Emily and saw Buzzer on the other side. “See you soon Buzzer.” “Bee Bee!” “Oh, who is that?” asked the man. “That’s Tetsubo, one of my travelling companions.” “Its very nice to meet you Professor Beech.” “You take care of each other.” He switched off. “He seems nice enough, I’ll introduce you to Blossom next time.” We came back to the table, Bulbasaur and Oddish were there eating. “If you’re going to be joining the team, we’ll need to give you a new name and put you inside a Pokéball.” I said. “Oddish.” “Bulba.” They answered simultaneously, basically saying ‘Okay’. “Bloomer?” suggested Emily. “Saur!...” It didn’t like it, and Pokémon should get the final say of their nickname. “Okay then... You’ll someday evolve into a Venusaur, and by then, you’ll be able to use solar energy, how about I call you Solar?” “Saur!” It liked that. “Okay, I’ll check the Pokédex.” I said: “Both genders of Oddish evolve into Gloom, the Nectar Pokémon at around Level 21, and male Gloom evolve into Vileplume by use of a Grass Stone, the females evolve differently though no information is currently available.” “Would you like to be called Pollen?” “Oddish! Oddish!” It jumped up wildly, it liked the name which described its specialty attacks. “Okay, Pollen...” “Solar...” “Return!” we finished simultaneously throwing the balls forward, they dived into them, there would be no resistance, because they wanted to be our Pokémon. Chad was silent through all this, but after we recalled them, he spoke up. “Can we PLEASE go to the Gym now?!” “Okay Chad, we just needed to sort this out, the new Grass Pokémon will help us out, this Gym’s fairly known for its Water Pokémon.” We rushed into town to find the Gym, but all we found was an underwater ballet place. It was the only building with a unique structure, a Dewgong picture hanging at the front. We stepped in, a show was being performed and not having tickets, we hid in the corner to talk to someone in charge after it was finished. “And the beautiful mermaid lived happily ever after with her prince. The End.” A Goldeen leaped out of the water, and hit its head on the side of the tank. “Booooo!” Someone threw a plastic cup into the water tank and the audience cleared out complaining, various Water Pokémon and three pretty young ladies rose to the top saddened by the results... We waited at the doors until they were dressed and about to close. “If you’re waiting for a refund, I’m afraid we don’t do those.” said the one with wavy blue hair. “No, no, I was just wondering where I could find the Cerulean Gym.” I said. “Oh, this place was the Cerulean Gym, but trainers were winning so easily we, like, changed it, totally, into a place where we could perform.” said the pink haired one. “But we totally aren’t doing too well.” finished the blonde. “How come?” “Our act is getting old and some of the new Water Pokémon we got aren’t ready for the stage. I’m afraid this place might, like, close down.” she explained. “That doesn’t have to happen.” I said suddenly with confidence. “Huh?” questioned Emily, while all Chad could say was “Hey! I’m the dramatic one!” “Really? How?” asked the blonde. “Well maybe you need a new act, and perhaps we could help those Water Pokémon.” “And what would you want in return?” asked the blonde. “I know, he wants a Cascade Badge, but if he can help us out then its, like, totally worth it.” whispered ‘pink’. “No! I don’t want to win a badge like that!” I shouted. “I do!” said Chad, before being lightly hit by Emily, “He’s right, we can’t be given badges if we don’t win a Gym Battle.” “Except...” I thought out loud, “How will I get all eight badges if I don’t?” “He’s just like Misty’s friend, he won’t just take the badge.” whispered ‘blue’ to the others. “Well there are other Gyms, I count about 16 when you include all the new ones that were built recently.” explained the blonde. “New Gyms?” I asked surprised. “Yeah, after Viridian Gym was shut down because of Rocket involvement and after Cinnabar's volcano went off, and of course us shutting down our Gym, new Gyms were set up.” said ‘pink’. “Oh right... You couldn’t give me directions to them, could you?” “Later. We accept your help... What do we do first?” asked the blonde. “Well first, you may need a new script, the Pokémon need more acting experience and you’re going to need a couple of male actors. Chad, Emily and I will work on these...” “All this help and we don’t even know your names, I’m Daisy.” said the blonde. “Lily.” said the pink haired girl. “Violet.“ finished the blue. “And I’m-” “I am the great CHAD THE CHOSEN!” Chad interrupted. “Are you an actor?” asked Daisy confused, “Cos you’re not a very good one.” Chad groaned and sunk his head down. “I’m Tetsubo.” “And I’m Emily.” “Well, let’s get started...” During that day, Emily helped train the Pokémon, Chad held auditions, and I used my creativity to write a new story. “Seaking, the Goldfish Pokémon. These Water-type Pokémon are known to swim up powerful rivers and creeks. They use their horn to carve boulders into a nest.” “Dewgong, the Sea Lion Pokémon. Dewgong’s body stores thermal energy, unharmed by intense cold, it swims powerfully in icy waters.” Emily had found the time to record a couple of new entries during the training, which I also received. “Starmie, Dewgong, Seaking, I’m counting on you to train the younger ones how to leap out of the water.” explained Emily. A tiny Horsea leaped upwards and spun before diving back in. “Wow, you’re pretty good too. You’re on the teaching list too.” “Horrseeea!” “Name...” “I was once known as The Astounding Mandy, the greatest Pokémon magician, but then a Kingler wiped the floor with my Pokémon in the last Kanto League and my winning status has been lost...” said a green haired man with a slight Spanish accent. “Yeeeaaah. So what’s your name?” “Mandy.” Chad almost burst into laughter, but he held it back. “Okay...” he chuckled, “Do you have any acting experience?” “Three years at Celadon acting school and much experience in the world of magic.” “Okay then, provided you don’t tell anyone your name, you’re perfect.” “And what is wrong with my-” “Come on, come on, I’ve got other people to see...” “And its perfect, I admit its very much like Steven Spielbunk’s movie, but he copied it from Billy Twistcube, who copied it from... Anyway, this will make a good script.” I said to myself, applying the final touches to it. Within the day, we had finished, the final performance of Cerulean Water Theatre was due, but I hoped this would change after our adjustments. “Okay, here’s the basic story, there’s the human prince from the lands and a beautiful mermaid from the seas. We’ll gather some Normal Pokémon along with the Cerulean Water Pokémon and have them battle over a Pokémon feud. The two are deeply in love and have to meet in secrecy, but their Pokémon find out, and drag them away believing that Water and Normal-types could never live together. The two plan to run away, but the Water Pokémon convince the Mermaid Prince to marry the beautiful mermaid. She is forced into it and the handsome prince finds out, and believing that the mermaid has left him, he lets himself fall off a cliff, ending his life. The mermaid finds his lifeless body and mourns for him before using a Tentacool to poison herself and go where her love has. The two families, upset by the loss resolve their differences and live in peace... The End. Well?” Some looked impressed, and Chad was brawling his eyes out, “It’s so SAD!” “Okay then, I know it’ll take a little planning, but if we all work together, we can have everything ready in time.” “I think I’ve, like, seen a movie that’s similar to that.” added Daisy. “Well, I couldn’t think up an original play in such short notice, I didn’t study theatre.” “Well, its pretty good, I hope it brings in the crowds, or the Cerulean Water Theatre will be closed for good...” said Violet nervously. “We’re not going to let that happen.” I said dramatically, I saw the anger in Chad’s eyes. We had the afternoon to practice before the show that would determine the Cerulean Water Theatre’s future.
