Chapter 13: Return of the Mysterious Pokémon (Part B) by Michael Keens/
Exodus

That night, we walked up the long spiral staircase to the top, the immense
light rotated around and practically blinded us every 5 seconds, we all turned
away from the beacon.
“How the heck can you communicate with a Pokémon you’ve never really seen?”
asked Chad.
“Can you communicate with Pokémon?” asked Bill.
“Sort of, I understand what they say and they understand me...”
“Well I did a lot of studying since I first heard the mysterious Pokémon, I
have the technology to change my voice into the Pokémon language.”
“You really need a hobby.”
“Chad, don’t be so insensitive!” shouted Emily.
“Shhhh, I can hear it.” I whispered.
It was a beautiful sound, like a lower key siren, so gentle, so alone.
And now it would have Bill as a friend.
It was okay, Bill was a really nice guy, a little too involved with work, but
otherwise great.
“I’m so glad you returned, Pokémon...”
“Oooaaaooohhh...” it said with a loud, yet gentle tone.
It was unclear, but I could see it was very big.
It took its time wading through the ocean, but within a few minutes, it was in
sight.
It looked kinda like a Dragonite, but it was much bigger, and that beautiful
sound it made, it was nothing like the Dragonites I’d heard.
Bill had waited a year to see this Pokémon, he was a withdrawn person.
To communicate with this Pokémon, it would, even if very little, improve his
social life.
“I’ve waited so long for you to return, why did you attack us?”
“What?! That thing attacked you?!” asked Chad surprised.
“Keep quiet then, don’t make it mad!” said Emily.
“Gooaaoohhhh...”
Bill played the tape.
“Someone was trying to hurt you and you thought I was involved, I’m sorry you
thought that, I would never try to hurt you.”
“Goooaaoohhh...”
Bill smiled, more than he had the whole time we were with him, he loved
Pokémon.

The peace was broken by an explosion and a large cloud of smoke.
“Whirlwind, use the Whirlwind attack to blow it away!”
“Pidgeo!” it screamed, flapping its wings hard, making loud swooping sounds in
the air, the Pokémon was in trouble, bound by a huge net.
“Tetsubo, we have to get it off him!”
“Okay!”
Bill and I ran towards the Pokémon, but an electric charge that ran through the
net put us off the idea.
The Pokémon screamed in pain, and an equally large creature approached from
behind.
A mechanical Dragonite, and my three ‘favourite’ people.

“We strike during day or night!”
“We attack, with all our might!”
“Don’t mess with us, or we shall fight!”
“We’re pretty good at our rhyme.”
“The masterminds, of crime.”
“We always succeed, every time.”
“Cletus!”
“Cassie!”
“Claus!”
“If y’all got valuables, yuh’d better block it!”
“We put Pokémon in our pocket!”
“We’re the best, so don’t knock it!”
“We are... Elite Rocket!”

“Leave that Pokémon alone!” shouted Bill.
“Hah, forget it dweeb!” shouted Cassie, “This is a rare Pokémon and Team Rocket
needs such treasures.”
“Its not as if it was yours.” added Claus.
“So its up fer grabs!” finished Cletus.
“No! You must leave that Pokémon alone!”
“They won’t listen to you Bill, they only understand force!” I shouted,
“Whirlwind! Twinkill!”
“Solar! Discharge!”
“Ragecage! Boulder!”
All six Pokémon appeared together.
“Whirlwind, I want you to get some sand from the nearby beach, and Twinkill, I
want you to lead the main attack force.” I explained.
“Okay, Solar will be a long range attacker, and Discharge, you go with Twinkill
and follow his lead.” ordered Emily.
“Ragecage, Boulder, both of you follow Twinkill and get in there and do some
damage.” finished Chad.
All Pokémon shouted an ‘Okay!’ in their different languages.
“Solar! Use Razor Leaf on the window!”
“Whirlwind, block their vision with Sand Attack, and Twinkill, help them and
use your Water Gun to make both attacks stick!”
Whirlwind had already gone forth and returned with the sand, the Dragonite
robot dragged the other Pokémon away slowly.
Solar shot the leaves first.

“Will dat glass hold against dat attack?” asked Cletus.
“Of course it will, this is a Screwloose brand machine, it’ll be fine.”
explained Claus.

Then the sand hit plastering half the leaves on, Twinkill followed in and
turned the sand into a sticky substance.

“Dey may not be able to break through... But dem varmints have blocked our
vision!” screamed Cletus.
“Just keep pulling!” shouted Claus angrily, “We cannot lose such a rare
Pokémon!”

“Discharge!”
“Ragecage! Boulder!”
“Twinkill! Full scale attack!”
All I could do was watch, this definitely wasn’t an Official League Battle and
the Pokémon could try anything since we weren’t sure what would beat the
robot.
Twinkill spun itself around and dented the main head, then shot water into the
circuitry.
Discharge shocked around, but because it was hauling an electrified net, it was
a safe bet it had some protection against Electric attacks.
Ragecage and Boulder leaped onto the main head and pounded away at the
sand-covered window.

“Don’t just let them attack us!” screamed Claus.

A hatch at the back of the head opened and...
“Scyther!”
“Dra!”
“Monchan!”

“Discharge! Solar! Shock and slash that Seadra!” called out Emily.
“Twinkill!”
“Ragecage!”
“Get that Hitmonchan!” Chad and I finished in unison.
“Whirlwind!”
“Boulder!”
“Attack that Scyther!” we said in unison again.
This was the Pokémon’s chance to fight the battle on their own, we just split
them up into teams that would beat the Rockets', who appeared to be doing this
without orders too.
“Scyther! Scy!”
Cutter, Cletus’s Scyther looked worried as the two type advantage Pokémon flew
around it, I was a little pleased that one of my own Pokémon could strike this
bully down, I still remembered the pain he caused Twinkill when he sliced one
of his limbs off.
“Geo!” shouted Boulder raising a rock from the cliff face and lobbing it at the
mantis who cut it in two.
It wasn’t always about type differences, a Pokémon’s physical structure could
affect matches too, and those scythes gave him a pretty good advantage.
Whirlwind followed up with a spinning Peck attack.
“Sea-Dra!”
Queendra shot a small Ice Beam stopping Solar in the middle of a Vine whip
attack, it couldn’t face two opponents at once and was shocked by Discharge.
“Monchan!”
Knockout went one-on-one with Ragecage, the small Mankey, they both grabbed
hands, the Hitmonchan won, but Twinkill spun past grazing Knockout.
It turned back, aimed a punch at Twinkill, missed, then turned back to
Ragecage, already aiming its Mega Punch...
All three Elite Pokémon flew into the water.

“They beat our first wave of Pokémon!” shouted Cassie from inside the cockpit.
“Ah’ll use de tail ta scoop ‘em up.” said Cletus getting to work.
“Grrrr, use all the weapon systems!” screamed Claus getting very angry.
“But what about the-”
“Do I look like I care?!” interrupted Claus really ticked off.
“Ever since that turquoise pest came along, my career has gone downhill as with
yours, he will not stop us this time!”

A cannon formed out the mouth of the robot, to my horror, it was obviously
aimed at us.
Pushing Chad aside and tackling Emily down, the beacon of the lighthouse was
blown clear off.
Picking myself up off the awkwardness of being so close to Emily, I saw it
collapsing totally.
“Bill! Watch out!”
Bill’s eyes widened, Chad made a run towards him, but backed off as the beacon
crashed down.
Bill was catapulted off the lighthouse and plummeted.
“BILL!” I screamed.

“You fool, Claus, you killed the wrong one!” shouted Cassie to Claus.

“Gooaaooohhhh!”
I scrambled over and looked over the edge.
The mysterious Pokémon was free of the net and had caught Bill.
“You saved me, Pokémon.”
“Gooaaaoooohhh...”

“Pokémon?... But in order for that to happen...” pondered Cassie from inside,
“... Its free! Shoot it! Shoot it!” she screamed.

The cannon was loading up for another blast.
“Pokémon, do you know Hyper Beam?” asked Bill.
“Goah... Gaaooaaooohhh!!!”
The blast was quicker than the Rockets’, and destroyed the cannon, sparks
surrounded the Dragonite robot.
“Guys, get out of there!” I called out to all the Pokémon.
The Pokémon quickly reached what was left of the lighthouse before the
Dragonite robot exploded.
The Mysterious Pokémon shielded itself and Bill.

“Ah can’t believe dey beat our Dragonite...” moaned Cletus.
“The system failed and so did we...” groaned Cassie.
“We’ll be back Turquoise, and with an even bigger robot...” threatened Claus.
All three flew into the distance, blackened from the explosion.

The Pokémon was slowly walking away.
“Bill, you’re going with it?”
“I have waited years to study this Pokémon, I will go wherever it wishes to
show me. Thank you friends, this Pokémon might have been captured if you
hadn’t fought at your best.”
“Will you ever come back?” asked Emily.
“Perhaps... All I know is that this is an impressive discovery, and I’ve
finally made a friend.”
“We’re your friends too. Come back soon...” called Emily.
Chad stayed silent, but the smile on his face said everything needed to be
said.

The sun was rising, but the Pokémon was too far away to determine what it was,
we simply watched until they were out of sight.
Bill had finally found what he had been searching for, as for us, our journey
was still at its beginning.
