| March 4th/02 Topic: Religion why do we believe Now I've been giving this alot of thought lately maybe it's because I'm currently taking an Anthropology course that is about religion so it got me thinking then again maybe not......... So the question is why do people believe? See it's funny how something like religion can cause so much chaos and wreck such havoc on the world. It's for religion that the world trade center got bombed. It's because of religion men and women commit mass suicide. How can a belief mean so much to someone that they would risk thier lives for it. Maybe it's because I don't carry such rigid beliefs that I have a hard time understanding. But for what really? So they can reserve a spot for themselves with the higher power. But how can murder achieve that? That is if there is a higher power at all....... It's funny how so many people can believe in something so intently and there is the possibility that it doesn't even exist!!!!!! Scary huh? Now don't be getting all huffy puffy on me here it may ....... or.... it may not the only time I'll have an answer for you about that is when I have proof and well honestly I may never have proof until of course I die which isn't going to do me a hell of a lot of good now while I'm writing this. I'll admit to the world right now I practice no religion it's not that I don't carry heavy morals on myself but I have a hard time buying into the framework of organized religion. What I can't believe is that every religion believes that their religion is "the One" so does that mean that everyone else is going to burn in eternal damnation? For instance I do know the 10 commandments and honestly I'd say if they were the rules then darlin' 99% of the population is going to burn. As for the other 1% well kudos to you , happy for ya!!!!!! I'll see you on my way to the netherworld maybe we can pass each other in the elevator. Hmmmm Where was I???? Ohhh ya How can someone believe that there is a higher plain if they've never seen it? Ok I know what your thinking what about the white tunnel and spirits and so forth. well.... hasn't science given explainations as to those phenomina? Pretty sure it has but I'll be sure to check on it some more. Take for instance the religions that involve snorting drugs to get them to "the higher place" where they become the spirit reincarnate. Well i don't know about you but I'm under the understanding that if you take a hallucigan then you are going to think your "Elvis" if that's the desire. But of course modern religion scoffs the other religions and their beliefs, they say they are crazy.... Well maybe that is what we will be thinking a 100 yrs from now about the big religions, practiced by the Catholics, Muslims, Hindu's, Buddists become the minority. This is the new age alternate religions seem to be on the rise like Wicca a once ancient tradition has taken a comeback. Voodoo is still large and growing. So this is what I figure agree with me or not I really don't give a shit but, I'm gining my openon anyways. I'm going to live my life and raise my son with high values, love in our hearts and hope for a peaceful future. How can I have hope for a future is I have no set belief system you may ask.... I have hope because I know I have to live the best life I can for my childrens sake and thier childrens sake. I need to live my life so that when I die people will give a damn and honestly speaking it has nothing to do with who you believe to be the ultimate maker what life has to do with is being great. Looking back on your life when your on your death bed and saying "That was a good one"....... So to everyone reading all I have to say is this "Have a Good One". Because you only get the one. :) but then again ...... depending on your belief system maybe not........ |
