The beast of Rouse island

This story is now several years old and I have not had the chance to revist the area since  that time.
I don't know if the phenomena are still occurring ... if anyone has been in this area and has had similar 
experiances please contact us.
I was taking a camping holliday with some relatives .We Were in  Ontario  visiting some  of the little 
uninhabited islands by boat.We  decided to set up camp on a small island named Rous island.
The tent was all sent up and we were having a grand  time.
The hours went by  and soon darkness was setting in.We sat by the campfire  roasting the obligatory marshmallows
 and  talking.Nothing extrodinary there.We decided to get some sleep as we would be  leaving the next morning 
fairly early.
I was in a tent with my friend *who wishes to remain unnnammed* ,and my uncle .My brother was alone in the tent 
across from us .It was a very clear night and the moon was very bright.
After nodding off I was awakened buy a sound .It sounded like something was shuffling around right outside our 
tent.
Then there was a thud and  sounds of rummaging around There was also a rather peculiar odour.I looked over and 
my uncle was sitting up listening as well.
I had at first thought it was my brother  the other tent answering the call of nature.
Then my brother called out  "hey is that you guys out there?" We then realised whatever was directly outside 
our tent was NOT
my brother. My Uncle quickly jumped out of the tent with myself and my friend who had by this time woken up 
close behind.
There was nothing  outside the tent .Whatever it was simply seemed to vanish.My brother got out of his tent .
At first he thought we were playing a trick on him 
but eventually he realised  something really strange had just happened.
We started a new fire and for the rest of the night  we took turns staying up incase our mystery visitor  came 
back.
Luckily nothing  else happened and as soon as it was first light  we were packed up and away from that place 
like a bat out of hell.
