![]() The traditional Dip tin holds 20 pounds of fresh fruit. It is made of metal, and has perforated sides and bottom. Three tins stack neatly together in a bundle. The tractor and cart drive up the centre row, and the cartman throws bundles into the two adjoining rows, hoping to leave enough tins to hold all the fruit to be picked, with not too many surplus. The cartman appears to have run out of tins, part way up this row. The pickers fill each tin and place it under the vine for the cartman to load onto the trailer. Unused tins are later collected and put in rows waiting to be picked. It is very bad form to underestimate the crop and not put out surplus tins - those vines do not get harvested! |
