CHR They Refuse to Return My Money
Westgate Timeshare Resort Issues
Date of Incident: 8/28/2003
I read your complaint involving Westgate, and I have a situation of my own involving the Westgate property in Orlando. I am due to travel there in one week, and I trying desperatly to get my money back because they have lied to me way to much, and as a result of that, I don't trust them.
I called Westgate Resorts in Orlando early this August, and booked a vacation package. I was told that the only way I could even stay on the property is if I attended a 90 minute timeshare. Once I received the confirmation information in the mail, everything listed was incorrect. The vacation was in my fiancees name, (which was spelled incorrectly) and I paid for the trip. They also put that that we were married living in the same household at least 30 years old. None of the sort is true. I then call Westgate Resorts where I spoke with a Chad, and I alerted him of the errors. He then said that he would correct them and once I received my confirmation in the mail, I would have 14 days from receipt of the confirmation to cancel the vacation without penalty. I received that final confirmation today and everything was still incorrect, including the timeshare presentation. T hey changed it from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. I called and demanded a manager, and I was transferred over to Danielle. At that point I didn't even want to vacation through them anymore, so I demanded my money back. She told me that she would not be able to give me my money back because I've passed the 14 cancellation period. Of course I told her that Chad didn't communicate that to me and that incorrect information about my fiancee and I were falsaly submitted.
Danielle then offered to allow me to go to a timeshare presentation under certain conditions without penalty. The conditions included not being married, or being of age. She also changed the time of timeshare presentation to 11:00 a.m., and that it would be voluntary. Okay....voluntary timeshare presentation with peanalities for not attending at all makes NO sense to me. She later told me that it is against the Florida law to cancel a vacation after the 14 day cancellation period.
About two hours later, I spoke with a Reservation agent at the Resort which my fiancee and I would be staying in, and he told me that I would be able to stay at Westgate Resort Orlando for just two nights without having to attend a timeshare presentation. He then proceeded to tell me that I was lied to about that, and that to the best of his knowledge, there is no known law in Flordia stating that a vacation can't be cancelled without peanalty after 14 days. He said that it's a hotel policy, and if they wanted to reverse the charges, the could. I was told by a Tony and Santiago in the Verification department that in order for me to stay on the Westgate Resort property, I would have to attend a timeshare presentation which was not my inital intention. I was also told that once everything was confirmed, that my Visa Card would be charged. Nothing was ever confirmed, and my visa card was charged, and as a big mistake and error on my part, I used my debit card.
I'm desperatly trying to get my money back before my vacation next week and they are refusing. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.
