DTK Trying to Cancel on the Last Day
Westgate Timeshare Resort Issues

Date of Incident: 6/11/2005

Hi, first let me say that I am very thankful for your website. I purchased a timeshare with Westgate 6/1/2005. It says I have 10 calendar days after the date I signed to cancel. I am thinking that today is my last day. I am not sure of how to word the letter for intent to cancel. Can you help me. Thank you.

Lisa, thank you for your advise. With today being Saturday, I could not get in touch with a Lawyer. I went ahead & sent a letter to cancel. I sent it by certified mail. With it being the last day I felt that I had to do something today. My husband was all for buying but I wasn't. Now that we are at the end of the 10 days he decides that maybe I was right and we should try to get out of the contract. The contract states "If you decide to cancel this contract, you must notify the Developer in writing of your intent to cancel. Your notice of cancellation shall be effective upon the date sent." I am hoping that I did the right thing by acting on it and having the letter certified with todays date.
