NK I Was in Tears
Westgate Timeshare Resort Issues
Date of Incident: 1/16/2004
My fiance and I went to Orlando January 3, 2004. In order to save money on Park hoppers for Universal/Islands we got ourselves into a hellish westgate experience. Although we knew what we were getting into with a 90 min presentation and a "$20.00 breakfast buffet," we did it for the savings. The sales rep first told us, he would not take up most of our time...he took over 2 hours. He was very condescending.
First, he knew right of the bat with his keen salesman sensibility, that we were a young couple starting out, soon to be married, and could not afford this time share. I kept telling him, we do not doubt that these resorts sell themselves, but we can not afford it. I did not matter what I said, the salesman was only interested in us signing the dotted line. Finally, he sits us down in the deal room, where people are being converted as Westgate resort holders, and he brings his boss over to us and says, they clearly can not afford this, can strike up a deal with this young couple to make it afforadable.
With that I said to his Boss, Look! We can not afford this right now, the answer is no. We are getting married and the money I have is a nest egg.
I was soo fuming angry I asked him where the bathroom was and I left. I was almost in tears. The sales man says the okay to let us go, since I was
very upset. The sales rep scolded me by saying this: "I treated
you with dignity and respect, and you embarassed me in front of my boss." I wanted to tell him to kiss my ever lovin lilly white ass, but instead I started to weep in front of him. He shook my fiance's hand and
gave us the tickets.
It was like being trapped in a lock down cell with a man who a drives a mercedes and thinks he is all that. He was selfish and all he wanted was a sale. If he was a respectable salesman, he would of stop trying to sell
when it was clear of our situation.
Thank you for letting me share my expereince. I needed to vent my anger and disgust.
