PW Timeshare Resellers are Scammers Too
Westgate Timeshare Resort Issues

Date of Incident: 4/16/2003

Here is how it started - I received a call at home asking if I was interested in a vacation package in the Smokys. We had already considered this for vacation, so this plan see to fall right inline with what we were planning. They took my money via credit card and I was told that I could use this package at any time as long as it was within 1 month of travel. I was speaking with the Florida office at this time. I called ~ 6 weeks before our scheduled vacation - I was then told that there was only 2 weekends that promotion was for. We went round and round - I would have never agreed to this if it we a weekend deal only ( we are 10 hours frmo the Smokys!). I had also been told that I could nuy 2 additional nights at the package price. Now I was being told that no way would anyone ever tell me that. That basically called me a liar! Anyway, they got us into a different property in the Smokys and I just needed to listen to the sales pitch.

Ok - went on vacation with my kids in the Smoky Mountains. I had considered time shares before. I toured the facility and went through what everyone has described here as high pressure sales. Eventually it worked out that we could buy on the every-other-year plan. Ok- sounded fine. My sales person gave me 2 different e-mails addresses as well as his business card and told me anytime I wanted to make an exchange to let him know and he would walk me through it the first time. Well, I e-mailed him 2x at each e=mail address and left him two message at the resort. He would not acknowledge me at all. When I bought, I mentioned that we would mainly be exchanging. I tried to make plans 5 months in advance for 6 different condos - no luck = all taken. I was told by interval international that ocean side units are hardly ever open. My salesman knew that we frequent the beach, and continued to show us all the ocean front condos we had to choose from. I'f anyone has had success selling thier unit, please advise the rest of us. Sounds like the timeshare resellers are scammers too. If anyone has had and luck please let the rest of us "suckers" in on the secret. Now I am not only paying monthly, but also have to come up with money for vacation since we couldn't get an open unit.

Two strikes - I'm out and feeling foolish! Never again......
