RAN I've Lost Money Trying to Sell
Westgate Timeshare Resort Issues
Date of Incident: 6/10/2003
Thank you for such an informative Website. I found it by accident while looking for more information on how to sell my unit. I thought I was alone but everything covered is soooo true. I was foolish enough to fall for the upgrade pitches thinking one day I would have several weeks for each of my children to use. I own one of the four bedroom villas which I have been trying to sell for sometime. I guess I am also out the $500 each for the three places I am listed with. (I think that's another scam.) I too was told whenever I wanted to sell my deeded timeshare Westgate would be glad to have it back but now I am told they make more on "new" sales and take no part in assisting owners who may need to sell. I don't know if you are aware but people purchasing now only "own" for twenty years and then it reverts back to Central Florida Investments so I thought I'd have no problem selling a deeded unit. I am a widow and cannot afford the ongoing monthly mortgage payments. How I wish I had purchased "real" property somewhere which would be an asset. This has drained me dry and I don't know where to turn. Have any suggestions?
Thanks again for helping so many of us know we are not alone. Hopefully it will be an eyeopener for anyone considering a purchase. I would be so happy if they would just take the unit back (which they could resell) to relieve me of the monthly payments. I do not want to default and ruin my credit rating but it is looking more and more to be the only option.
