The U.K. connection - The Artwork of Geoff Senior
I first noticed the work of Geoff Senior during the Target: 2006 epic, which tied into Transformers: The Movie. Incidentally the whole of the Target: 2006 epic is being serialized on line here. At the excellent website of Paul Cannon (otherwise known as TRANSFORCE). Of course it was expertly written by Simon Furman. One of the most memorable pictures from the entire run of the U.K. comic was this one.
I've also just remembered that he was the artist on the Iron Man 'Hands of The Mandarin' saga, in the War Machine comics (Issues 9 & 10). Just before that he did another Iron Man related comic, another What If...?, 'What If Iron Man sold out' (issue 64). He wasn't credited, but it really looked like his style, even though his pencils were covered by someone elses inks. The comic itself was exceptional even for GS. His drawing of humans looked brilliant (Better than Dragon's Claws), and his drawing style really suited, drawing the Iron Man suits.
I haven't really told you much about what I think of Geoff Senior, but I have to say his finest hour was UK Transformers Issue 86 page 1 (of the strip). Where Galvatron is riding on the top of Ultra Magnus' cab. The Dragon's Claws series showed us that he could put more detail into his Art, it also showed us his knack of drawing backgrounds, city scapes and exciting visions of the future.
The last thing I have seen that Geoff Senior had done was this, for the Beast Wars computer game.
UPDATE 05/10/00 - This summer at the American Botcon 2000 convention Geoff Senior was the artist for the last part of the 'Reaching the Omega Point' story written by Simon Furman, which appeared in a special comic available at the event. Copies of this comic are still available at the Botcon website. As are the text story prologue (exclusive to Botcon Europe) and the first two chapters, available online in html format. The comic is available online here, the quality isn't excellent but you get the idea.
The last I heard, Geoff Senior was working as a graphical designer this is sourced from Paul Cannon, from another e-mail he sent me, he said he was talking to Messrs. Senior and Furman about doing something for the next Transforce 2001 convention next year.
NOW AVAILABLE - a selection of Geoff Senior's Transformers and non-Transformers work on my Comics Online page.
