1st position - The heels are together forming one line. |

2nd position - The feet are on the same line as before, but with a distance of about one and a half times the length of the dancer own foot. |

3rd position - One foot is infront of the other, heels are touching the middle of the other foot. this positions usually used only in training young dancer as means of achieving the 5th position later. |

4th position - The placement of the feet is similar to that in the 3rd position. The feet are parallel and separated one time the length of the dancer own foot. |

5th position - The feet are crossed so that the front heel shuold be against the big toe of the back foot (a great care should be taken not to over-cross or twist the knees or ankles). |

6thor Parallel - The feet and the inner side of the legs are parallel to each other. |
