The Royal Children


King Simeon II and Queen Margarita have four sons and one daughter:

H.R.H Crown Prince Kardam, Prince of Tirnovo


The Prince was born in Madrid, on the 2nd December 1962. He is named after Khan Kardam, a great Eight Century ruler of Bulgaria, who paved the way for the establishment of the modern State, and brought peace and order to the country.

The title of Prince of Tirnovo is Traditionally given to the heir to the Throne. Prince Kardam's Patron Saint is John of Rila.

H.R.H. Kyril, Prince of Preslav


Kyril, Prince of Preslav is the exact name and title of King Boris's very popular brother, who was Regent for King Simeon, and was executed by the Communists in 1945. He was born in Madrid on the 11th July 1964.

The Patron Saint of the Prince of Kyril, who together with Saint Mathodius, is known as the Apostles of the Slavs, and authors of the Cyrillic alphabet.

H.R.H. Kubrat, Prince of Panagiurishte

Born in Madrid on the 5th November 1965, the Prince is named after Kubrat, one of Bulgaria's first "Khans" in the Sixth Century. Panaguirishte is the town here a big uprising in 1876 opened the way to independence after five centuries of Ottoman Domination.


H.R.H. Konstantin-Assen, Prince of Vidin

Prince Konstantin was born in Madrid, on the 5th December 1967. The Prince is named after a Thirteenth Century Bulgarian ruler, as well as after H.M. the King of the Hellenes.  Vidin is an important river harbor on the Danube in the North-West of Bulgaria.
 
 

H.R.H. Kalina, Princess of Bulgaria


Princess Kalina was born in Madrid,  on 19th of January 1972.
