THE COMPLETE GUIDE
TO ACCURACY

So you want better accuracy?  Here is where to get it!  Follow all these steps and u can shoot dead on!  Here are the 4 major things that affect your accuracy!

Here are some factors that cause poor accuracy:

The Barrel

There are several good aftermarket barrels!  Some of my favorites are the J&J ceramic and the CP barrels!  These 2 barrels I find are really good!  They are cheap and very quiet!  Almost any aftermarket barrel will improve the accuracy of the gun.  What is more important than the barrel is the paint-to-barrel match which I discuss later on down.

Does the length of the barrel improve accuracy?  NO!  The barrel again is only as good as the paint-to-barrel match.  The best barrel length is 10 to 12 inches.  The 14 inch and longer barrels just get too long.  The reason people think that a longer barrel improves accuracy is because you have a longer barrel to sight down.  This gives the illusion of a far more accurate barrel.  If you do set your gun up right you can make your gun easy to sight down.  Also with the longer barrel you get decreased efficiency.

Gun Setup

The gun setup makes a really big difference in how accurate you are.  The way to improve your gun setup is to allow your co2 tank or HPA tank to be back far enough so that you have a gun to shoulder and to sight down.  If your tank is to far in you have less of a gun to look down and you also can't put the gun on your shoulder making your gun less accurate.  What you'll want to do is to put your tank back so that you can put the tank against your shoulder so it keeps it steady.  Make sure that you do have enough room between the gun and your mask when you are holding the gun against your shoulder.  You want to find the middle between having your tank to far in and to far out.

Another thing to remember is to have your gun well balanced!  A balanced gun lets you pop out the side of your bunker and shoot off some shots a lot easier.  Here is how to balance your gun.  Make sure you have everything on your gun that you would have for a day of play, this would mean that you would put on your hopper and fill it with paintballs and put your tank onto your gun.  Then you hold your gun by the trigger frame with one hand.  If your gun is really heavy on the front you will want your tank farther back, and if your gun is really heavy in the back you will want to move your tank forward.  Adding a foregrip onto your gun will also help you balance your gun!

Paint-to-Barrel Match

What is paint to barrel match?  Paint-to-barrel match is the difference in size between your paintball and your barrel.  What will this do for you?  It will improve your accuracy a lot.  Even if you do have the awesome aftermarket barrel you won't get anywhere unless you have the right paint-to-barrel match.  So here is how to find the best paint-to-barrel match!  Get the paintballs that you are going to use for the day and your barrel.  Pull out 5 paintballs from the bag or box.  Now take one of the paintballs and put it in the end of your barrel (the end being the part that screws into the gun) and hold your barrel strait up and down.  What does the paintball do?

If you paintball falls right through the barrel your paintball is to small.

If your paintball doesn't even go into your barrel then it is to big.

Now if you can blow the paintball out of your barrel without trying too hard then you have the right paint-to-barrel match.

Try this with several paintballs to find out if you didn't just get a bad one from the batch.  The reason for finding a good paint-to-barrel match is because it will improve your accuracy.  A good paint-to-barrel match accomplishes good accuracy because your paintball isn't just bobbling around in your barrel nor is it being jammed through your barrel.

Shooting Techniques

Shooting techniques will not only improve your accuracy but also how good you are!  I will only give the techniques needed to improve your accuracy because I have another section that goes into playing and shooting techniques!

Ok!  To develop good shooting techniques you will need to practice!  A lot of practice!  I first will just look around the side of the bunker really fast (no longer than like 2 seconds) to see where everyone is.  Then when I see someone to shoot I get back behind my bunker to get ready to shoot.  To get ready, I will first shoulder my gun then think about where I saw that person.  Then I raise up my gun and visualize the person that I saw and I guess just about where he is so that way I can quickly pop out of my bunker and shoot at him so I don't have to be hanging out of my bunker for long.  So I pop out and get off 2 or 3 shots in his direction.  I leave up my gun so I can make adjustments to my gun so that I can get my shots closer to the person.  Then I repeat the steps over again until I get that person out!
