Cocaine's Effects: The high from cocaine relaxes and calms people or it can speed them up. Cocaine causes mental exhilaration, reduced appetite and great physical strength and mental capacity. Cocaine is a fast working drug. The initial high sets in, in about minutes and lasts for 30 to 45 minutes. Then the high wears off very quickly. Cocaine peaks right away causing a quick high, then lasts for 30 to 45 minutes then the high drops quickly followed by an intense low.
Cocaine is a white powder. Cocaine is sold in rocks by its weight. Then the user crushes it and snorts it, injects it, or smokes it.
Cocaine has the possibility for a physical dependence and has a very high psychological dependence.
This is what cocaine looks like.
Cocaine is taken from the leaves of the coca plant. Cocaine can be snorted through the nose, smoked, and even injected. Cocaine is sometimes injected with heroin is called a "speedball." The most common way for people to use cocaine is to snort it. They put it in lines and use a hollow tube to snort it into the nose, this way allows the drug to enter the blood stream through the nasal membrane. Repeated snorting of cocaine could cause damage to the nasal membranes and the structure separating the nostrils. Cocaine can be turned into crack. Crack is purer and more concentrated than soluble cocaine and it is absorbed into the body faster than if it is snorted.
