Must-Go Places to Eat in Merida

What's up - my name is Mario Madariaga and I just found your page... I think it has fair comments (for example, the Maseca file) and it's great to have a different point of view of this beautiful city that we love and sometimes hate!
OK, me as a Yucateco I feel I have the duty to show you the truth: you can't be in Merida without going to certain places... besides the cultural stuff (which I love) and the archaeological sites, you have to go to these places:
- Helados Colon (yeah I know you've been there)
- Tortas TALANGOS (it's hidden somewhere near Circuito Colonias) the best tortas you'll ever get here... MUY TRADICIONAL for the people that knows...
- CHOCOTACOS AND BURGUERS (better known as Hamburguesas de los Gordos) it's very close to Estadio Salvador Alvarado, it has a descriptive picture that tells you they are the biggest burgers in the world.!!
- Tortas LA MARIELENA... a very famous place for students! They (the tortas) are so simple but they have that I-don't-know-what-it-is-but- whatever-it-is I-don't-care-it's-great.
- THE NASTY WINGS! The best chicken alitas (wings) in Merida are in this dirty place located at the intersection of the Periferico and the highway to Cholul... It's kinda new but it's becoming a classic!
- E-E-COFI-COFI...If you drink beer, you should know Bobby-Bobby the owner of this illegal place where you can get beer all day, you'll get it more expensive but its worth it... you'll pay like $25 for a CAGUAMA and a chance to get to know Bobby-Bobby the funniest guy in Merida!! He's always drunk so you may go to his window and hit him with a stone (dont hurt him please) he lives in Francisco de Montejo on the first curve in a place that has PEPSI written in the front...
- and the last one....its probably the worst place to eat in Merida but you'll never find a cheaper place... this place has no name but everybody knows the owner as DON PERRO, the man is a mechanic in the daytime, and a chef in the night, he sells $2 hotdogs and $4 tortas!!! everybody goes there after parties when they have no money and they need to eat something ...anything....
