leader Fidel, "Eliancico must come home" ... and then at the completely
over the barda and considerably more paunchy cuban fanatics in Miami
patriotically insisting that the kid stay in Miami and the great United
States.

While both groups probably consider themselves to be good Christians and doing the right thing, they are really just shamelessly pushing their own agendas. They are certainly not concerned with the actual well-being of a little kid.
If Fidel Castro's dictatorship and the militant rednecks in Miami had half a shred of humanity and some decency they would shut the hell up and they would get Eliancito some sort of lifetime citizenship in both countries, given the particular circumstances of his arrival in the U.S. Then he could decide where he wanted to live and have the freedom to move within either system as he saw fit.
