| The big building in the middle is the main bar at the camp. The place is enormous inside, complete with a resident population of bats in the point of the roof and a mad Maltese terrier who lives on the bar! The guys who work behind the bar, Davis and Kibina are two of the nicest guys you will meet anywhere. Kind, smiley and great company. One night springs to mind when we talked for ages over a few beers with no-one else there. If you ever go here, there is a competition to see how much Chairmans ESB beer you can neck in an hour. This stuff is about 7-8% and comes in pints. The record is 7 and a half! The bar does great food, which is fresh-cooked and in the case of the tilapia (fish) probably caught that morning. The food may be cheap, but there's nothing cheap about the quality, it is superb. There's lots of beer to be had, inexpensive too, either bottled or sometimes on draught too. The whole camp is owned by an Aussie guy called Mike. Lucky bugger, I'd love his job. he lives in Kampala with Mandy, his wife who was nice enough to give us a lift back from Jinja to Kampala on the second time we were there. The bar also serves really good snacks right through the day, tea. coffee and soft drinks. The coffee is whimsically named "fresh brewed and filtered Bujagali mud". Tastes good though and it must be about half caffeine as it's great wake-up juice in the morning after one or two Bells too many. The view from the bar is pretty spectacular too...... |
