At present I am faced with a health condtion the I've been pondering for some time which has prevented me from fully returning to my former career. I'm really not sure where it is all taking me, though it's crystal clear that it will not be in the usual direction, especially that dictated by past conditions, pressures and demands. The sounds that have flowed out of what we refer to as self have been from a myriad of sources. The most prominent of these has been the music of the Caribbean, particular Reggae and the music of Jamaica and then Calypso and Soca from Trinidad and the Eastern Caribbean. At times Zouk, Compas, Cadence, Spouge and other genres have come into play along with Latin and other Caribbean expressions such as Salsa, Mambo, Junkanoo, various folk and religio-spiritually-based styles that have made up the ethno-fusion that is so rich in the Caribbean regions melding of African, European and other elements from the perspective of one who originated from and lived much of life in the region of Florida and the Caribbean. From the earliest age Blues was a huge influence, such that I felt I would have been thoroughly content to have been a Blues player, alone, but no genre rests in a vacuum. Fusions of Soul, Rn'B, Rock, Funk, Latin, Brasillian and many other ethnic influenced seeped in from Africa, European Classical, Indigenous music of the Americas, E. India, the Mid-East and N. Africa, the Pacific, Asia - the World. My Instruments: Guitars, Vocals, Keyboards, Bass and many others along with the creative tools of composition, arrangement, programming/sequencing and more. At this point everything is as open and undetermined as can be, should you find your way here and wish to, please feel free to contact Shane by e-mail at: elshano@hotmail.com |
