The war on Iraq:

From a different point of view.

The war on terrorism has taken a new turn as of March 19th. U.S. president George Bush has become the main point of many discussions, ever since he directed the attack on Saddam Hussien. The U.S. military and the coalition has been ordered to strike government, military targets and and Saddams old palaces. While the Allied Forces have been very good about it, many people have had heavy concerns about how this whole affair will effect Canada. Prime Minister Jean Cretien has stated that Canada will not become involved without U.N. approval. Yet the public concern has arisen as to when the future of Canada is taken into account.

To be quite honest, the reaction to this whole ordeal has been overdone. In a few of Canada's cities, protesters of the war have emerged. Half these people don't even know what they're doing. It's one thing for people to come together in a peaceful protest of war, but when they start saying that government officials are terrorists themselves, as many have said about President Bush, it loses it's peaceful, democratic appeal. A few of these "anti- violence/anti-war protester" groups havein fact, taken to violence. Once that happens, you lose your objectivity and your views become radical in the eyes of the public.

As far as the war is concerned, I think that this war shall be over within a couple of months. Saddam's regime has already started to dissipate and his support has sunk to an all-time low. My own sources tell me that the U.S. will not hold Canada in contempt for not entering this war. Peace will be restored.
