Slayers, by Hajime Kanzaka and Rui Araizumi.
Our hero, Lina Inverse, is in fact a criminal "But I stole this from thieves, so that makes me a good guy right?" There is a great character interplay and the entire show is hilarious. This manga could suit whatever your tastes are, being funny one minute, then mysterious the next. For example Lina is a sorceress who looks like she's 12 and is utterly flat. Somehow she got stuck with a knight who, supposedly, saved her named Goury. However Goury is a total idiot and has to be explained things hundreds of times. So naturally Lina spends half the show Smacking him upside the head for being so stupid and the other half the show is spent with Goury puzzling over how a girl could be so flat.
