"Good morning calss, ready for the test?" Miss Ellis stepped into the room. The teacher was clad in a gown of white silk to match her current orb which was an ice orb at the time. "Now today, I shall do things a little differently. Instead of calling people from the front first as I normally do for tests, I thought, why not start from the back? So, I will." A groan came from the class. Miss Ellis continued, "The only orb you will need is your ice orb. So put all other orbs up. I shall call you up one at a time. You will then follow me into the testing room. "Jordan, Cecile" Miss Ellis called out Cecile's name. Slowly, Cecile stood up and followed Miss Ellis into the testing room with her scepter and orb. "As Cecile followed Miss Ellis, she heard Alex whisper to her, "Good luck." Cecile entered the testing room and took a seat in front of Miss Ellis. The room was medium sized, probably around fifteen feet-by-fifteen feet. The walls were lined with some sort of beige shock absorbent material. It looked and felt like silk but wasn't. The material is specially made to absorb all spells cast within. Cecile got our her ice orb and inserted the crystal-like ball into the socket at the top of her sceptor. "Are you ready now?" Miss Ellis was sitting in hte corner with her right ankle hooked on the back of her left one. She had a green gradebook with 'MAGE' printed on the cover in large bold gold letters. The teacher opened up the book to the section titled, 'Period 1' and turned to the J's. "I'm ready." Cecile stood up and waited to be told what spell to perform. "Okay, let's begin. Cecile, show me the starting pose for the Enchanted Ice Storm spell." Cecile thought to herself, "Enchanted Ice Storm... I know I read about it this morning... Ah, yes! I remember!" She stood with her right foot slightly behind the other and held her sceptor straight up in her left with her right hand facing out with the palm out and the fingers straight. "Very good." Miss Ellis made some notes on a nearby piece of paper. "The next question is multiple choice. What is the ending effect of the Enchanted Ice Storm spell? A...The air becomes icy and the ground freezes? B... Icebergs fall from the sky C... The spell caster is surrounded by a small blizzard? or D... None of the above? "Ummm... C. The spellcaster is surrounded by a small blizzard." Miss Ellis nodded her head and wrote something down on the piece of paper she had with her. The test went on for at least another five to six minutes. At last, the test was over and Cecile was permitted to leave the testing room. "How was it? Alex looked up from her spiral as Cecile returned from the test. "Uh, okay I guess. There's multiple choice and some other things. You'll find out for yourself in a few minutes." "Alexandra." Miss Ellis had stepped out of the room and called the next victim in. "Now it's my turn." Alex said. "And it's my turn. Good luck to you too." Cecile gave a smile to Alex who responded with a small smile. Cecile watched as Alex walked into the room and the door was shut behind her. Cecile waited and waited. After about two minutes, Cecile became bored as usual. She got our her cleaning cloth and started to clean her orb. After she had made her orb sparkle, she started on the sceptor. She rubbed the staff part of her sceptor. She layed her sceptor out on the varnished oak desk in order to do this part. Cecile started down at the bottom of the staff. The mage wraped the cloth around the end and rubbed it around. Very slowly, Cecile moved her way up towards the top of her sceptor, every now and then pausing to rub in small clockwise circles on parts. When she got to the part of the sceptor named the bowl, the part where the orb is held, she stopped and looked around the rom. Her eyes ceased moving at the testing room, trying to catch a glimpse of whether Alex was done yet or not. She noticed then that the door was tinted to keep others from doing just what Cecile was doing. When she saw that, she turned her gaze back to her cleaning. She started to rub the cloth up one side of the bowl, down to the center, then up the other side of the inside. Afterwords, she did the exact same thing on the outside of the bowl. |
