A
great review from a real fan:
Great
Fifties Memories of the Making of The King, March 20, 1999
Reviewer: tomwillett@access1.net Tom Willett (see more about me)
from Van Nuys Ca.
One of the 10 best Elvis albums (an ancient word that means CD).
This release has "That's All Right" Elvis' first release
on Sun. It has one of my favorite rock and roll song titles,
"Mystery Train." That title is almost as sweet as Jerry
Lee Lewis' "High School Confidential." Elvis' version of
"I'm Left You're Right She's Gone" was actually on the
pop charts in 1955 before RCA got wind of The Hillbilly Cat.
"I was the one" was the flip side of his first million
seller "Heartbreak Hotel." "Playing for Keeps"
is an excellent slow rock powerhouse that can be used as a time
transport to those thrilling days of yesteryear. All selections
can be listened to over and over. Do your neighbors a favor and
play this CD through a massive speaker system while you mow the
lawn and sing along. |
