Debarge

Welcome to the DeBarge central. As you can see this page is all about the super group Debarge. I'm an 80s child and love the music from that era. I'm not the only one Mary J. Blige, Sean Puffy Combs, Patti Labelle and many more have sampled or re-recored debarge songs. I hope all debarge fans enjoy this page.

Quick group bio

Originally formed in 1978 and hailing from Grand Rapids, MI, the quintet was comprised of four brothers (Eldra, Mark, James, and Randy) and one sister (Bunny). The band signed on with the same label that the Jacksons started with, Motown, courtesy of their two older brothers, Tommy and Bobby (both of whom were members of another Motown act at the time, Switch). The group released 3 albums and broke-up in 1986 then regrouped without Bunny and El. Mark, Tommy Randy and Bobby signed with striped horse records. The officially broke up in 1989.

Debarge was at the top of the chart with hits 'All this love' and 'I like it'. In the early and mid 80s they were in all the teen magazines and popular on urban radio. They were part of the urban teen scene and battled for covers with New Edition, Menudo, Prince and Michael Jackson.
