On October 21, 2005, Young DeBarge was on the Miss Jones Morning show on Hot 97 WQHT in New York City in order to promote his debut album, ?The Hunt,? and the hit single, ?Exotic Spot (E-Spot).? Although Young anticipated having to answer questions regarding his family and the Jackson family, he was anxious to discuss his first solo music project. As Young has done on many prior occasions, he candidly answered questions posed about his family, the Jackson family and his brother?s (James) marriage to Janet Jackson. His responses were aligned with his understanding of the relationships within and between the two families. Incidentally, Young has held his beliefs as true long before he considered having a solo career. When Young previously spoke about these truths in personal and small groups, his statements were not well known and held out for public opinion. Therefore, since Young?s solicited responses during the interview exposed his convictions to a larger population through the mass media, his already founded ideas became popular discussion in national and international public forums. Consequently, Young has been subjected to much publicity. Young?s responses were not any less truthful to him or to those around him, despite the timing and circumstances under which the responses were given. The responses given during the interview has called Young?s character into question by some people as being part of a promotional scheme. Young answered all of the questions asked to the best of his knowledge and he stands behind all of his statements.

In addition, due to the recent media publicity surrounding this interview, Young has received numerous threats via e-mail and telephone. We will continue to take these threats seriously and Young will not be intimidated and run from what he believes to be true. Furthermore, Young will not disclose any sources of his information because he does not want to subject anyone else to this kind of scrutiny, unless they voluntarily and willing consent to make themselves available for comment.

Young DeBarge, the record label, his management and publicity team would like to assure everyone that this was not done in order to fuel a media storm. We are not among those who are eager to profit from any negative publicity of the DeBarge or Jackson families. Young is a talented composer, singer, songwriter and performer. We are confident that his unparalleled talent will speak for itself and this will not impede further promotion of his album.
