MasterIce Program Recommendations

I know how hard it is to get decent utilites these days, that's why I'm making this page for you! I've found some great programs on the internet, Most of them are free, and I'm gonna help spread the gold.

Irfanview

Irfanview is your all-in-one extension viewer; it will open just about all files you could ever think of, and it will not cost you a dime. It will open txt, html, jpg, jpeg, gif, png, ico, tif, ttf, avi, mpg, mpeg, mp2, mp3, mp4, ra, ram, wma, wmv, and any other that you choose! I use this program about 75% of my day (the other 25% is Notepad). The interface is real easy to use and the Next/Previous buttons, I find real useful. It can resize, sharpen and brighten any of your picture files and play all of your movies (with the appropriate codec of course). Download at http://www.irfanview.com and be sure to download the allplugins.exe for tons of codecs.

Irfanview tip: once you have installed the allplugins.exe, go to Options then Properties, select the Video/Sound Tab and select the "Use external player"

Lavasoft's Ad-Aware 6.0

If you are Spyware concerned, this is one free program for you. Ad-Aware scans you computer for spyware and removes it fro our pc. With regular update patches, there's no better spyware protection. Please see the full review and download links at the MasterIce's Spyware Guide.

TMPGEnc Video Encoder

TMPGEnc is a programs that you can download for free, and after a trial, either reinstall or purchase (or find a serial, not heard from me though). This nifty program will take any of your video files and convert them to VCD or DVD format. This is real good for all you home movie makers and any other person that needs to make these kinds of files on a regular basis. If your don't have a computer with at least 1 ghz, than it may take you up to 6 hours to encode a 1 hour and 30 movie (with any movie encoding program). It's really easy to use, you just follow the wizard and watch it run, but it is also great for advanced user who want noise filtering, source range features and others for customization of your final product. Download the free trail at http://www.tmpgenc.net.
