His eyes finally snapped open, and for a moment, it seemed that his violet gaze pierced through me. Pain. His or mine, I cannot distinguish. It seemed that he and I became one ever since that fateful night --- when he attempted to burn himself with Touda's flames. I called him back. I know I could not go on without him. I need Tsuzuki. But does he need me? He had wanted to die. He said that he was tired. But I would not let him go. So he stayed. For ME. For MY sake. Have I been selfish? What if Tatsumi-san was right? That dying was truly his wish? Have I only prolonged his suffering, the endless nightmares, the self-blame? Maybe I could not really make him happy at all. I bit my lips at thought, trembling at the sudden realization. I looked down at the now sleeping Tsuzuki cradled in my arms. I had not noticed that I was stroking his hair --- habit, I suppose. We had become closer, comforting each other every night. He is like a child, especially in sleep --- pure and untainted. He does not deserve the blame he put on himself. He is innocent. And I'll make sure he knows that. "Mmm..Hisoka...chocolate...cake...mm..." I laugh softly at his murmurs as I lay him gently on the bed. "I'll be here when you wake up, Tsuzuki." -owari-
