THE ROAD AHEAD

There was a time when I would always feel down at the beginning of the day.
I would open my eyes and groan and curse that yet another bad day had begun
in an era of recession.

Suddenly, I received a message from the Almighty. I wake up early in the
morning. While chanting the name of God, I slip on my tracksuit and start
off straight for a walk. I take deep breaths while walking and look straight
towards the horizon. Suddenly, the world appears different to me. The blue
sky peeping from between the pine trees ....The pink roses ...The sprightly
young newspaper boy humming a tune as he chucks the newspaper into homes ...
And then I walk into the prayer hall of the Ramakrishna Mission. I close my
eyes, take off my spectacles, sit straight with my spinal cord straight ...
and breathe deeply
...innnn....outttt.....innnnn.....outttt.....in....out.....I am at peace
with myself. I am one with the universe...I can hear birds chirping ...and
then gently I open my eyes. I Thank God for everything and slowly walk back
home.

Believe me dear readers, my life has completely changed. I am merry,
cheerful, over-enthusiastic about my office work. My employers cannot dream
of parting with me.

Please try it out. Never walk with your eye concentrated towards the earth,
as it will cause depression. Always focus your thoughts on the horizon ...
and you will only think of the road ahead.
